Tasmanian girl, 11, fighting for life after being shot in face

A critically injured 11-year-old girl is flown from Launceston to Melbourne after being shot in the face last night.

Police were called to a Deloraine location about 9:00pm on Tuesday.

It is understood the shooting happened inside a car in Stagg Court at Deloraine and the girl was taken to Deloraine District Hospital by a family member.

The girl was then transferred to the Launceston General Hospital before being flown to Melbourne in a critical condition.

Officers from Launceston CIB are investigating and a 25-year-old man is assisting with their inquiries.

It is understood the man is related to the child.
