MotoGP: Valentino Rossi breaks leg, motocross training crash before Misano

VALENTINO Rossi’s bid for a 10th MotoGP title has been thrown into disarray, with the Yamaha rider breaking his leg in a motocross crash.

Yamaha has confirmed that the 38-year-old has broken both bones of his right leg, Rossi taken immediately to Ospedale Civile di Urbino where he will undergo surgery “as soon as possible.”

“Following an enduro training accident on Thursday, August 31st, Movistar Yamaha MotoGP star Valentino Rossi was diagnosed with displaced fractures of the tibia and fibula of his right leg,” a statement from Yamaha said.

“The 38-year-old Italian rider will undergo surgery as soon as possible. A further medical bulletin will be issued later on Friday morning, Sept 1st.”
