Aussie golfer Ryan McCarthy ranked #1342 in the world claims British Open spot

Australian golfer Ryan McCarthy, ranked No.1342 in the world, has qualified for the prestigious British Open by claiming third at a pre-tournament in Scotland.

The 27-year-old McCarthy completed his two rounds at the qualifier at Gailes Links Golf Course in a four-way tie for third at two under par.

He won the subsequent four-player play-off to claim the last of three qualifying spots at the tournament, finding a birdie on the first hole.

McCarthy turned professional in 2012 and has spent most of his career on the PGA Tour of Latinoamerica.
