Parking inspector hit-run accused in court drama, tried to escape custody in Freo Court

A MAN who allegedly ran down a parking inspector, pinning him between two cars, remains behind bars after he tried to escape from the dock when he appeared in court today.

Christopher Gethin Lee, 42, had to be restrained by three security officers after he tried to scale the glass barrier of the dock in the Fremantle Magistrate’s Court when he appeared on a string of charges this morning.

Surrounded by another five officers who rushed to the dock as back up, Mr Lee struggled with the officers as they ordered him to get on to the floor and to put his hands behind his back.

Mr Lee repeatedly screamed “I didn’t do anything” and “I’m not resisting” during the dramatic scuffle, which ended with him being lead back to the cells under a heavy guard.

The Riverton man was arrested after he allegedly ran down a parking inspector after he was told to move his Mercedes from an Australia Post parking bay on William Street in Fremantle about 2pm yesterday.

Police say officers Mr Lee left the scene and was later spotted driving erratically on Hampton Road about 3.40pm…
