Russian police said the 43-year-old died from his injuries in hospital in Blagoveschens, local reports claim.
It is understood the man’s first name was Brad according to Russian bikers who met the man shortly before the tragedy.
They said he was aiming to reach London after starting his epic journey in Vladivostok, a major Pacific port city in Russia.
The father-of-three was riding his Suzuki across Russia with four bikers from South Korea when he was forced into a highway crash barrier by a Toyota Probox that was suddenly pulling out to turn left and failed to indicate.
‘A chain of five bikers tried to overtake several cars that were driving behind a slow Toyota Probox car,’ said one Russian account of the accident.
‘At that moment, cars also started overtaking the Toyota but its driver suddenly decided to turn left and did not switch on his blinker.
As a result, the Australian biker hit the metal crash barrier on the side of the road.’
The Australian biker may have hit a Ford Focus as he lost control, reported Gazeta.ru.
Harrowing pictures show the Australian on the roadside after the accident, and the mangled remains of his motorbike.
He was alive when he was rushed to Amur Regional Hospital but doctors were unable to save him.
‘I met him and his friends the day before yesterday in Birobidzhan. He was tall, strong, sociable guy, always smiling,’ a local biker Viktor Status said.
Police declined to give further details about the tragedy or to give the name of the dead man.
The Russian news agency published a picture of the bearded man evidently with his three children.
