Turkey tourist bus falls from cliff, killing 20
At least 20 people have died after a tourist bus fell from a cliff near the southern Turkey seaside resort of Marmaris.
Another 11 were injured when the driver lost control of the minibus and ploughed through a crash barrier.
Local media said no foreign tourists were among the passengers.
About 40 people were on board, according to Amric Cicek, governor of Mugla province, who suggested the brakes may have stopped working.
But the mayor of Marmaris, Ali Acar, told Turkish newspaper Hurriyet: “I think that the accident was a result of driver error.”
Other media reports said the victims were mainly women and children.
Turkey’s Andalou news agency said the crash took place on the Mugla-Antalya road at the Sakar Gecidi pass.
The vehicle landed on another section of road below after it went through the crash barrier.
Rescue teams were dispatched and the injured were taken to hospital, Andalou said.

Hamilton on pole for Spanish GP ahead of Vettel as Alonso impresses by 7th
Lewis Hamilton will start the Spanish Grand Prix from pole position — his third pole of the season.
The British driver was dominant on a sun-kissed Circuit de Catalunya as he banished the horror show of his fourth-placed finish at Russia last time out — among the poorest performances of his stellar career.
Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel was second quickest, having locked up in his final flying lap; he was 0.051 behind Hamilton.
Valtteri Bottas, in the other Mercedes, was third while Kimi Raikkonen, of Ferrari, was fourth.
Watching on was Mercedes’ big cheese, Dieter Zetsche, the only man in Formula One able to rival the extravagant moustache of the sport’s chief executive Chase Carey.
Vettel was almost pulled out of qualifying after being asked to pull in by his pit-lane boffins. He continued and the problem was solved.
While Mercedes could celebrate, there was celebration, too, at McLaren-Honda, for whom Fernando Alonso made it into the third qualifying session, a season first.
In the McLaren garage, Zak Brown celebrated. Fist-pumping for 7th is a sign of the times, after their gruesome start to a season beset by engine problems.
Alonso wagged his finger in celebration. It was a great performance by the Spaniard in front of his own fans.
Jolyon Palmer, of Renault, was 17th quickest. The Brit said: ‘I don’t know what happened. The pace has gone. I was happy yesterday and jumped straight in and was feeling good. Today it’s just gone.
‘I’m quite confused. I didn’t do such a horrendous lap but it just wasn’t there. We’ll work on it, somewhere in the data there will be an explanation.’
Hamilton started on pole a year ago but he collided with his former Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg on the opening lap.
‘It’s going to be a tough race tomorrow that’s for sure,’ Hamilton, 32, said. ‘It is all milliseconds between us.
‘It’s the third longest run down to turn one so it’s going to be important to get a good start. I’m just going to do the best job I can.’
Vettel, whose Ferrari team were forced to change his engine on Saturday morning, added: ‘The team did a phenomenal job.
‘We had an issue this morning and we had to change the engine. Normally that’s a three-hour job but they did it in under two hours. A big thank you to them.
‘Kimi’s crew helped out. It was quite funny. One side of the garage had one or two mechanics and the other side was completely crowded, like bees hovering around the car.
‘I think we could have had pole today. Not the ideal end, but if I think about where we were this morning it was a really good recovery.’

Australia Foxtel Play: TV, PC or Mobile
I saw that Foxtel Play now have a no contract offer. Two weeks free trial + then about $39 per month. Cancel anytime. I signed up yesterday to watch F1. I had a little trouble because it works on Windows or Mac, not on my Linux. I had to resort to using Virtual Box Win [in Linux]. The sign up + download took about 7mins.
But having got the Foxtel Play downloaded it worked very well. Apart from Foxtel [SkyF1] F1 there are hundreds of programs etc, if you want to see other things.
Sorry I can not offer any advice if you live outside Australia [UK is ok for SkyF1 direct]. Foxtel doesn’t seem to like Proxies or VPN.
#F1 #SpanishGP๐ช๐ธ Mercedes break curfew to fix problems on Bottas’ car
Mercedes have broken an overnight curfew to fix an electrical problem on the power unit of Valtteri Bottas’s car.
They also discovered a water leak that led to an engine change, the Formula One champions said at the Spanish Grand Prix on Saturday.
Bottas won the previous race in Russia, the Finn’s first victory in F1.
In putting the engine back together, we have discovered a small water leak,’ a team spokesman said, adding that the engine had been replaced with the one used at the previous four rounds of the season.
‘We hope that he will be able to run at some point in third practice — the boys are working flat out on it to make that possible.’
The removed power unit will have the leak fixed and will be used at future races and as a spare.
Teams are not allowed to work on cars overnight for an eight-hour period, with two exceptions allowed per season. The governing FIA said Mercedes would not face any sanction since Friday night’s breach was their first of the campaign.
Mercedes dominated Friday’s free practice with triple champion Lewis Hamilton fastest in both sessions ahead of Bottas. Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel leads the championship, 13 points clear of Hamilton.

NHS cyber attack used US government software leaked by WikiLeaks!
The ransomware that is wreaking havoc on NHS computers is believed to be using an NSA cyber-weapon leaked in WikiLeaks’ Vault 7 release earlier this year. Malware called Wanna Detector is preventing hospital staff from accessing medical records. Hospitals in both England and Scotland are known to be affected.
The ransomware is taking advantage of EternalBlue, an exploit NSA spies used to secretly break into Windows machines, according to the Register.
Microsoft patched the issue earlier this year, but only on version of the Windows operating system that it continues to support.
Up to 90 per cent of NHS computers still run Windows XP, according to a report published in the BMJ earlier this week.
The operating system was released in 2001, and Microsoft cut support for it in 2014.
People can continue to use the software, but doing so comes with enormous risks.
“Using XP is particularly bad because it’s no longer supported and there’s no way to patch it,” David Emm, the principal security researcher at Kaspersky, told The Independent.
Microsoft no longer builds or distributes security updates for XP, leaving it extremely vulnerable to viruses and cybercriminals.
The company is extremely clear about how important it is to stop using XP.
“If you continue to use Windows XP now that support has ended, your computer will still work but it might become more vulnerable to security risks and viruses,” it says.
“Internet Explorer 8 is also no longer supported, so if your Windows XP PC is connected to the Internet and you use Internet Explorer 8 to surf the web, you might be exposing your PC to additional threats.”
Three years ago, the UK government paid Microsoft £5.5 million to extend support, but this only guaranteed its protection for one more year.
The BMJ report ominously concludes, “We should be prepared: more hospitals will almost certainly be shut down by ransomware this year.”
Unfortunately for the NHS, very few older computers are able to run Windows 10, Microsoft’s latest computer operating system.
This means the machines themselves need to be replaced, and that will cost an enormous amount of money.
“Unfortunately, XP will likely still be used for some time yet,” Fraser Kyne, the CTO of Bromium for the EMEA region, told The Independent.
“Many organisations are faced with huge potential costs in upgrading their systems, which may rely on XP to support critical line-of-business applications. Systems running XP really should be used in separation from other functions and not used for external web browsing or opening emails from unknown sources. There is just too much risk

Sushi Uncooked fish can come with a nasty parasitical worm, doctors warn
Sushi containing uncooked fish can be infected with a worm-like parasite that attaches itself to the bowel, causing severe pain, vomiting and fever, doctors have warned in the BMJ journal. A “previously healthy” man, 32, was admitted to hospital in Lisbon, Portugal, with symptoms that initially proved difficult to diagnose. But, after doctors questioned him, he told them he had recently eaten sushi.
Not all sushi is made with raw fish, much of it is cooked. However, another popular Japanese form of cuisine, sashimi, is based on uncooked fish.
Putting a camera into his upper intestine led to the discovery of a parasite, the larvae of an anisakis nematode worm, attached to the inside of his bowel.
And it was this that had been causing the man “severe epigastric pain, vomiting and low-grade fever” and “moderate abdominal tenderness” for about a week, the doctors wrote.
The BMJ article said most cases described in the medical literature were from Japan because of the popularity of seafood.
“However, it has been increasingly recognised in Western countries,” the doctors wrote.
“Owing to changes in food habits, anisakiasis is a growing disease in Western countries, which should be suspected in patients with a history of ingestion of raw or uncooked fish.”
After the worm was removed using a special type of net, the man’s symptoms stopped immediately.
The doctors said the parasite was associated with a number of health problems.
“Patients can have allergic symptoms like angioedema, urticarial and anaphylaxis,” they wrote.
“Gastrointestinal symptoms include abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting and complications like digestive bleeding, bowel obstruction, perforation and peritonitis can also arise. Patients can also have a low-grade fever.

Crying, screaming, fainting: Chaos as hundreds of Jetstar passengers are trapped for 2 HOURS
Passengers were left crying, screaming and fainting on a Melbourne-bound Jetstar plane, after it was stranded on a Phuket runway for more than two hours without air-conditioning.
Flight JQ18 had just finished boarding at Phuket Airport on Friday night when the power unit that controls the air-conditioning broke.
Hundreds of passengers were trapped on the stifling plane as engineers worked to resolve the issue.
Cabin crew members handed out cold water, but up to five people fainted or suffered other medical conditions, according to one passenger.
‘People were not let off the plane for two hours … and as a result approximately five people fainted or suffered other medical conditions,’ the passenger posted to Jetstar Australia’s Facebook.
‘People were fainting, screaming, crying, and having massive panic attacks and yelling at staff to let them off but the captain didn’t,’ another passenger said, according to the Herald Sun.
Finally after people continued to scream out to open the doors and one bloke fainted and started tripping out and a teenage girl began to have breathing issues, the decision was made to let passengers off.’
After disembarking the aircraft, passengers reported waiting at the gate for further information, only to discover via e-mail that the plane was delayed until 4pm Saturday.
A Jetstar spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that passengers were taken to nearby hotels after another ‘technical issue’ was found.
‘The combination of technical issues with the aircraft and a customer needing to get off due to a medical condition meant a lengthy delay to the flight back from Phuket,’ he said.
‘The ground power unit which had the technical fault controls the air conditioning unit so it was quite warm on the aircraft.
‘We apologise to all customers and thank them for their patience.’
The spokesperson said passengers can request a refund if they would not like to travel.

Comey wants to testify in public re; Trump + Russia, turning down offer to speak behind closed doors
Former FBI director James Comey reportedly does want to testify about alleged ties between Russia and Donald Trump’s presidential campaign – but only if it is in public.
Comey declined on Friday to testify behind closed doors before the Senate Intelligence Committee after he was invited to appear next Tuesday.
But a source close to the ousted FBI director told the New York Times that Comey is willing to testify in public.
Before his firing on Tuesday, Comey had been scheduled to appear in Thursday’s hearings – one in public and another more revealing classified session.
Andrew McCabe, who became acting director when Comey was sacked, appeared in his place since Comey was no longer a government official.
President Donald Trump seemed to throw him a brushback pitch on Twitter, writing Friday that Comey had ‘better hope that there are no “tapes” of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!’
The White House wouldn’t rule out, hours later, the possibility that the president’s three known conversations with his then-FBI chief were recorded.
Trump has claimed that Comey told him on all three occasions that he wasn’t personally under investigation.
According to unnamed friends of Comey’s who are leaking his thoughts to reporters, he is hoping to hear his own voice and Trump’s on recordings of his presidential chit-chat
Comey is ‘not worried about any tapes’ of those talks between him and the president, according to CNN, who quoted a Comey friend saying that ‘if there is a tape, there’s nothing he is worried about.’
NBC News has its own secret access to Comey’s inner circle, with one person close to him saying: ‘He hopes there are tapes. That would be perfect.’
White House press secretary Sean Spicer wouldn’t rule out the possibility during Friday’s briefing.
‘The president has nothing further to add,’ he said several times. Asked directly whether the White House is taping Trump’s phone calls , he wouldn’t give a yes-or-no answer.
And when asked if it was proper for the president to threaten his former FBI director.
It’s also possible that the FBI or the Justice Department was openly recording, or secretly monitoring, Comey’s calls. A request for information from the DOJ went unanswered on Friday.
Trump said Thursday during an interview with NBC News that the two men have spoken at least three times since Inauguration Day.
And on those occasions, he insisted, Comey assured him that he was not personally the subject of any federal investigations.
‘He said it once at dinner and then he said it twice during phone calls,’ Trump said.
He described a matter-of-fact exchange over dinner in which he asked an unusual question and got an unconventional response.
‘I said, “If it’s possible would you let me know, am I under investigation?” Trump recalled.
‘He said, “You are not under investigation”.’
Spicer was asked Friday whether or not the White House had a recording of that dinnertime conversation, and replied: ‘I’m not aware of that.’
It is rare for a federal law enforcement official to tell anyone, including the President of the United States, whether they are being investigated.
Even if Comey doesn’t speak to reporters about the circumstances behind his dismissal on Tuesday, he may have a high-profile venue to tell his side of the story.
The Senate Intelligence Committee has asked him to testify next week.
The latest twist from Trump amid reports that he demanded loyalty from James Comey during the private dinner at the White House back in January.
The claims from associates of the now fired FBI director. Comey had told associates that he was summoned to the White House for a one-on-one dinner with Trump seven days after the inauguration, the New York Times reports.
It was during the dinner that Trump reportedly asked Comey twice to pledge loyalty to him as the new Commander in Chief.

Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer zooming through the streets of Manhattan
Melissa McCarthy is taking her Sean Spicer impression to the streets of Manhattan!
Her impression of the White House press secretary on “Saturday Night Live” has received rave reviews, but this skit takes the joke to a whole new level.
In clips posted on social media today, fans got to see every angle of the actress, 46, who is hosting the sketch comedy show on Saturday. Dressed as Spicer and zooming around on a motorized podium, she screams at Columbus Circle traffic.
Spicer himself commented on the satire earlier in the year, calling it “cute.”

— Sherrilyn Ifill (@Sifill_LDF) May 12, 2017
In March, McCarthy explained that her resemblance to Spicer is because her father is a spitting image of the man.
“I feel like my dad and Sean Spicer had a baby, and it’s me. Which makes it even stranger,” she told Ellen DeGeneres.

Pilot breaks silence: QF72 computers BROKE DOWN – sending the aircraft nosediving towards the Indian Ocean with 303 passengers on board
The captain of Qantas Flight 72 has opened up for the first time about the day the automation of a plane he was in charge of ‘went psycho’ and repeatedly nose-dived towards the Indian Ocean.
More than 100 people were injured when the pilots of the flight, carrying 303 passengers and 12 crew members from Singapore to Perth, lost control of the aircraft on October 7, 2008.
The Airbus A330 had been cruising at 37,000 feet when the autopilot disengaged automatically.
It nosedived twice before pilot Kevin Sullivan declared a mayday and made an emergency landing at Learmonth Airport near Exmouth, Western Australia, around 50 minutes after the first descent.
Now, eight years later, Mr Sullivan has broken his silence on the incident that changed his life and left him with post-traumatic stress disorder.
‘It’s the worst thing that can happen when you are in an aeroplane – when you are not in control,’ he told Good Weekend.
‘And you have a choice. You can either succumb to that or you fight it. I was fighting that outcome and I have been ever since.’
Mr Sullivan is a former US Navy pilot who later joined the famous Top Gun school. He was the first US Navy exchange pilot to join the RAAF in 1983.
He only intended to be in Australia for three years, but after marrying an Australian woman and having a daughter, he decided to stay permanently and became a Qantas pilot.
He was 53 when what he described as a ‘computer crash’ would change the way he viewed the job he loved.
Mr Sullivan was forced to take manual control of the plane when he felt it plunge for the first time at 12.42pm WA time. It went 150 feet down in two seconds.
He remembers wondering if his life was going to end.
Seconds later, he finally felt responses to his control-stick movements and he is able to bring the aeroplane back to 37,000 feet.
But then, the plane dove again – 400 feet in just over 15 seconds.
He and the pilots realise that one of the three flight control primary computers (PRIMs) is faulty.
He was concerned about how he would safely manage an emergency landing, but knew that continuing on to Perth could be even more devastating for the injured.
Mr Sullivan declares a mayday and puts ‘Learmonth Airport’ into the computer for navigation – which shows an error.
At this point, he says he became enraged and started ‘cursing like a drunken sailor.’
But his passengers and crew, including 115 of whom had sustained non-fatal injuries, cheered and clapped when the jet touched down without further incident.
At least 20 passengers and crew aboard the flight were seriously injured – some with spinal injuries and others with broken bones and lacerations.
And when he was finally able to enter the cabin, Mr Sullivan described the scene as looking like ‘the Incredible Hulk had gone through there in a rage and ripped the place apart.’
Three years after the accident, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau found inaccurate data on measures, including airspeed and angle of attack, sent to the plane’s computers.
One of the PRIMs commanded the plane to dive, but investigators could not pinpoint exactly what prompted the incorrect data.
For Mr Sullivan, the incident had life-changing consequences.
He took eight months off, but when he returned to work, he was hyper-alert and worried about losing control.
After three decades at Qantas, he decided to leave last year.
But he still worries about the greater control computers have over flying.
He said that pilots were never given any indication in training that a computer could ‘go completely haywire and try and kill you.’
