Rare storm brought snow to the California slopes with Sleds and Skis in June?
A rare winter-like storm brought more snow to the Sierra Nevada on Monday, giving skiers the opportunity to enjoy the slopes as summer gets underway.
At Squaw Valley, the storm dropped four inches of snow at the upper elevations and two inches at the base, delighting skiers and snowboarders who will be on the slopes past the Fourth of July for a first time in history.
“It’s definitely unique,” Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows resort spokesman Sam Kieckhefer said. “We are seeing bathing suits and costumes on the slopes. The skiing has definitely been extremely festive.”
The plan is to open the slopes every summer Saturday as long as the snow holds out, he said. “We anticipate this could last through July and even into August,” Kieckhefer said.
The wicked winter that socked California is also keeping Mammoth Mountain ski resort open into August…

ISIS calls for ‘all-out war’ on West during holy month of Ramadan
The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terror group has called for an “all-out war” on “infidels” in the West at the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which begins on Saturday (May 27).
“Muslim brothers in Europe who can’t reach the Islamic State lands, attack them in their homes, their markets, their roads and their forums,” the Islamist group said, using an alternative name for themselves, in a message entitled, “Where are the lions of war?” and published on YouTube, reported The Telegraph.
The group also defended the suicide attack on Manchester Arena that left 22 people dead, many of them children: “Do not despise the work. Your targeting of the so-called innocents and civilians is beloved by us and the most effective, so go forth and may you get a great reward or martyrdom in Ramadan.”

Trump’s attack on Comey meets STRONG resistance. FBI: Don’t visit…
President Donald Trump’s branding of ousted FBI chief James Comey as a “showboat” has been swiftly contradicted by US senators and the bureau’s acting leader, who has pledged a vigorous probe into possible Trump campaign ties to Russia.
In his first interview since firing Comey on Tuesday, Trump appeared to try to underscore that Comey’s dismissal was about his performance at the FBI and not about the Russia probe.
Trump faces accusations from Democrats that he fired Comey to hinder the FBI investigation into US intelligence agency allegations that Russia meddled in the 2016 presidential election to benefit Trump.
“He’s a showboat. He’s a grandstander,” Trump told NBC News on Thursday.
“The FBI has been in turmoil. You know that, I know that, everybody knows that.”
Trump’s characterisation was odds with that of the top Republicans and Democrats on the Senate intelligence committee.
At a hearing on Thursday, the Republican chairman of the panel, Richard Burr, and the top Democrat, Mark Warner, praised Comey.
Warner said he was offended at Trump’s remarks.
Acting FBI director Andrew McCabe, testifying in place of Comey, contradicted Trump’s appraisal of turmoil at the FBI, saying Comey had “broad support” from the rank and file “and still does to this day”.
McCabe promised to tell senators of any White House meddling into the agency’s probe on Russia.
Democrats have called for a special counsel to look into the matter.
“It is my opinion and belief that the FBI will continue to pursue this investigation vigorously and completely,” McCabe told the senators.
Moscow has denied interference in the election and the Trump administration denies allegations of collusion with Russia.
In firing Comey, Trump said he knew he ran the risk he would “confuse people” and “lengthen out the investigation” into ties to Russia.
“In fact when I decided to just do it, I said to myself, I said, ‘You know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made-up story. It’s an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should have won’,” he told NBC.
Trump said in the interview he never pressured Comey into dropping the FBI probe, saying: “If Russia did anything, I want to know that.”
Trump said there was no “collusion between me and my campaign and the Russians” and “the Russians did not affect the vote”.
His explanation of why he fired Comey ran counter to previous administration explanations of Comey’s dismissal.
The White House and Vice-President Mike Pence had said Trump fired Comey on the recommendation of Attorney-General Jeff Sessions and his Justice Department deputy Rod Rosenstein.
On Thursday, Trump said he would have taken the action regardless.
A White House spokeswoman on Thursday morning had said Trump was expected to soon visit FBI headquarters but MSNBC later reported that plan had been thrown out after agency officials told the White House that Trump would not be greeted warmly.

Chilling images reveal homemade bomb left on London tube by ‘ISIS inspired’ teen
CHILLING images reveal parts of a homemade bomb planted on the London Underground by an “ISIS inspired” teen.
Damon Smith, 20, is accused of leaving the disguised bomb, rigged with a £2 Tesco clock, on a Jubilee Line train before it was noticed by worried passengers.
The £2 clock is part of the collection of images which were released by the Met Police.
Smith, was carrying a copy of the Koran when he left a rucksack containing an improvised explosive device on a Jubilee Line train at London Bridge in October, the Old Bailey was told.
Smith, who was 19 at the time, had intended to harm or kill passengers and had packed the device with ball bearings “so as to increase the destructive effect”, the jury heard.
When officers searched his home they found shredded documents which, when pieced back together, showed that he had written in green ink on a two-page feature in an al-Qaeda magazine.
The court was told that Smith, who is severely autistic, enjoyed gambling online and in casinos and had an interest in Islam and guns.
He had posed in videos with some of the weapons found at his home including a knuckle duster, a hunting knife, and two replica pistols that fired ball bearings.
Smith has admitted making the device but claimed it was a prank and intended to be a smoke bomb. He has been charged with possession of an explosive substance with intent.
The student, who moved to London with his mother to take up a place at London Metropolitan University, denies the charge but has admitted the lesser offence of perpetrating a bomb hoax.
Jonathan Rees, QC, for the prosecution, said: “The prosecution say that the defendant had built an improvised explosive device, which he intended would explode and endanger the lives of those travelling on that Tube train or, at the very least, cause serious damage to the train itself.”

‘Something exciting is coming,’ the 52-year-old teased to TV Week, but as pictures emerge showing the brunette beauty collapsed on the floor, her character’s health may be in jeopardy.
Images from the set show Georgie embracing Tim Ross’ James with a passionate kiss in their new kitchen.
But in the next frame Roo is seen splayed out on the floor with her arms twisted and contorted above her head…

Joan Crawford and Bette Davis Oscars showdown on Feud
It all went down on April 8, 1963 at the 35th Academy Awards in Los Angeles, a night that was intended to be the crowning moment of Bette Davis’ remarkable career comeback after ‘Baby Jane.’
The defining moment in the lifelong rivalry of Joan Crawford and Bette Davis played out on Sunday night in the latest episode of ‘Feud.’
It all went down on April 8, 1963 at the 35th Academy Awards in Los Angeles, a night that was intended to be the crowning moment of Davis’ remarkable career comeback.
The actress was a heavy favorite to win the Oscar for Best Actress thanks to her work alongside Crawford in ‘Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?’ and take home her third acting award.
It was Davis’ 10th nomination and would have been her third win had her name been called, but to the shock of many it was Anne Bancroft who won for her portrayal of Helen Keller’s mentor Anne Sullivan in ‘The Miracle Worker.’
Davis was left heartbroken and in shock, convinced that her career was over for good and she would never be nominated again, which turned out to be true.
