Louise Linton wife of Treasury Mnuchinjust apologized for a ‘highly insensitive’ Instagram post
Louise Linton, wife of Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, apologized Tuesday for boasting about her wealth and then disparaging someone who criticized her during a nasty social-media exchange in an attempt to quell a raft a criticism about her insult-laced attack.
“I apologize for my post on social media yesterday as well as my response,” she is quoted as saying, according to a statement issued by her publicist. “It was inappropriate and highly insensitive.”
Linton, an actress and producer, married Mnuchin two months ago in a lavish ceremony that was attended by President Trump and Vice President Pence. She often travels with Mnuchin on official business, which is not customary for the spouse of a Cabinet member, but Treasury Department officials have said the couple reimburse the government for the cost of her seat.

US flies B-1B bombers over Korean peninsula after missile test
Japanese and South Korean jets join US in fly-by as American ambassador to UN, Nikki Haley, calls on China to act
The US flew two supersonic B-1B bombers over the Korean peninsula in a show of force on Sunday, as the US ambassador to the UN warned that China, Japan and South Korea needed to do more after Pyongyang’s latest missile tests.
North Korea said it had conducted another successful test of an intercontinental ballistic missile on Friday that proved its ability to strike America’s mainland.
Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the UN, said on Twitter on Saturday that the US was “done talking” about North Korea, which was “not only a US problem”.
“China is aware they must act,” Haley said, urging Japan and South Korea to increase pressure and calling for an international solution.

Justine Damond: Australian woman killed by US police in Minneapolis
AN Australian woman engaged to be married to an American man has died after being shot by police in the US after calling 911 to report a possible assault.
Justine Damond, 40, from Sydney was shot by police in south Minneapolis on Saturday night.
Minneapolis mayor Betsy Hodges said the incident has made her “heartsick”.
Ms Damond died following an officer-involved shooting, according to Minneapolis police.
The shooting occurred on the 5100 block of Washburn Avenue South in the city’s Fulton neighbourhood.
The incident is the subject of an investigation but authorities have said the officers who responded to the 911 call did not have their body cameras turned on.
Two officers responded to a 911 call about a possible assault in the alley off of West 51st Street between Washburn and Xerxes avenues around 11.30pm, according to a statement released Sunday by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
“At one point one officer fired their weapon, fatally striking a woman,” the BCA said.
The dead woman’s partner was Don Damond.
His son Zach Damond took to Facebook saying he “heard noise in the alley and called the police”.
“She was out on 51st Street and she was shot,” Zach said.
“Investigators are attempting to determine whether any video of the incident exists.”
Mr Damond said the woman, reportedly an Australian in her 40s, was “passionate” and his “best friend”.
“Basically my mum was shot for reasons I don’t know,” Mr Damond said in a video posted on Facebook on Monday morning (AEST).
“I just know she heard a sound in the alley so then she called the police and the cops showed up and she was a very passionate woman…

“I played unbelievably well. I felt good and never let up,” Federer, who dropped just nine points on his serve, said.
“It was my best game this week. Nearly everything worked out for me.”
Federer, who skipped the claycourt season after winning the Miami Open in early April, claimed his fourth title of the year, matching Rafael Nadal’s tally, and he will be seeded ahead of his Spanish rival for Wimbledon, which starts in eight days…

Israel test proves missiles can be hidden on cargo ships
CONTAINER ships crowding the world’s oceans may soon be carrying more than trade goods. Israel has just tested a new missile system designed to fit within a standard shipping container.
Earlier this week, Israel ‘s state-run Aerospace Industries (IAI) announced it had successfully tested a ‘Long-Range Artillery’ (LORA) missile system from a shipping container attached to a truck parked on the deck of a cargo ship.
It revives a concept exploited by Germany in World War I where commercial freighters were converted to conceal arrays of guns and mines. These innocent-looking vessels would then approach and seize Allied merchant shipping.

Sessions Will Testify in Senate on Russian Meddling in Election – The New York Times
Attorney General Jeff Sessions told Congress on Saturday that he would testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday about issues related to Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.
Mr. Sessions had been scheduled to testify before other committees about the Justice Department’s budget that day, but he will instead appear before the intelligence panel.
Mr. Sessions said he would send Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, to testify about the department’s budget before the House and Senate appropriations panels. Mr. Sessions noted that several lawmakers on those panels had said they intended to ask him about the Russia investigation, after testimony by James B. Comey, who was fired last month as F.B.I. director by President Trump, before the intelligence committee on Thursday.
The attorney general may face sharper questioning from the intelligence committee, which has had access to intelligence materials in its inquiry into the Russian meddling.
