Video: Faster #F1 cars are than other race cars as the F1 overtakes cars on same lap

A video shows a Mercedes AMG SL 63, a V8 Supercar and a Formula One car lining up on a racetrack, leaving at different times. The Formula One car leaves last, but easily beats both.

Formula One cars are fast, but seeing F1 cars compete against other race cars helps to understand just how fast.

This video shows three different race cars compete against each other, as the Formula One overtakes the other two with at least a 29-second head start.

A Mercedes AMG SL 63, a V8 Supercar and a Formula One car all line up on a track and prepare to race either other.

The cars each start at different times with the goal of seeing if the cars can surpass each other.

The Mercedes goes first with a 16 second lead ahead of the V8 Supercar.

According to the commentators in the video, the ‘biggest difference in speed between the V8 Supercar and the Formula One, for example, is the power and the weight.

‘So the aerodynamics on the Formula One car is staggering. It’s got so much more grip and corner speed through all the slower corners.’

The commentator goes on to say that the Formula One car can reach up to 285-290km/hr (177-180mph).

After the V8 Supercar has a 29-second head start, the Formula One car leaves the starting point and speeds along the curving race track.
