A New South Wales Liberal Party meeting has seen one man hospitalised after a brawl broke out at a café in Sydney’s south.A senior Liberal Party source said the clash was “unprecedented” and a “tragic internal shit fight brought about by the pettiness of politics”. Numerous people were seen running from Naji’s Cafe on Firth Street in Arncliffe after police were called just before 7:00pm.It is alleged an older woman was pushed to the ground during the incident, while a man in his 40s has been taken to St George Hospital for treatment to minor injuries.The NSW Liberal Party issued a statement condemning the behaviour.”The Party will fully cooperate with the police in relation to their enquiries. An internal investigation will also be undertaken and disciplinary action taken against those responsible,” the statement said. A senior liberal party source who did not want to be named said the fight was the result of an “internal power play”.

Three people have died after being hit by a train at a station in south London, British Transport Police have confirmed.Officers were called to Loughborough Junction station, near Brixton, shortly after 7.30am after reports of multiple bodies being found on the track.An investigation has begun to identify the three people and the reason why they were on the tracks.Detective Superintendent Gary Richardson, from BTP, said: “My team are now working hard to understand what happened and how these three people came to lose their life on the railway.”My thoughts are with the family and friends of these three people.”At this time, we are treating their death as unexplained as we make a number of immediate inquiries. Porsche leaves it late to win 24 Hours Le Mans for 3rd year
LE MANS, France (AP) — Veteran German driver Timo Bernhard led Porsche to a dramatic third straight win at the 24 Hours Le Mans race to prevent a huge upset win for the lesser category Oreca team on Sunday.
After a series of mishaps to pre-race favorites Porsche and Toyota, the LMP2 category Oreca suddenly found itself in the lead with 19-year-old Frenchman Thomas Laurent behind the wheel three hours from the end of the grueling endurance race.
But the 36-year-old Bernhard, racing in the faster and more powerful LMP1 category Porsche 919 Hybrid, overtook the Oreca with about 1 hour remaining.
As the Porsche No. 2 crossed the finish line, there were scenes of relief in the Porsche garage as team members danced around holding up t-shirts with ”Hat trick 2015, 2016, 2017” written on them.
Teammate Brendon Hartley, who had done much of the hard work to drag Porsche back into the race, was in tears.
Bernhard finished about one minute ahead of the Jackie Chan DC Racing team car, owned by the famed action movie star.
Bernhard also won the race in 2010 when driving for the dominant Audi team.
It was a fantastic comeback win considering that the Porsche No. 2 was held up for more than one hour due to technical problems earlier in the race.

All flights suspended at Stuttgart Airport over suspected imminent bomb threat
A plane was grounded at Stuttgart Airport this morning over fears of an imminent bomb plot, German media reported.
It was feared that an attack may have been imminent after a passenger expressed fears over a conversation he heard, police said.
Possibly two or three people were questioned by police, according to Welt newspaper, following a disturbance.
They had been due to fly on the 180-seater Bulgaria Air plane at midday.
A federal police spokesman said: ‘During the routine departure check-out, a passenger told us that another passenger had threatened a bombing operation on the aircraft.
‘In ivew of the global political situation and the way in which the passenger met us, we had to take the threat seriously.’

An U19s footballer has collapsed and gone into cardiac arrest after reportedly being hit in the face with the ball during a suburban game today.
Pines U19s player Kadel Key suffered breathing problems and is currently recovering in hospital after being taken to The Alfred Hospital in a serious condition.
Key went into cardiac arrest and was revived on field with CPR from both team’s trainers before being taken in an ambulance.
The injury occurred when Key attempted to block a shot at goal, with the ball slamming into his face, the Frankston Standard Leader reported.
The match between Pines and Mt Eliza was called off in the second quarter after the incident.

North Korean soldier swims across river to defect
A North Korean soldier has fled to South Korea by swimming across the Han River, the second defection in a week.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said the man had swum across a particularly narrow part of the fast-moving river after attaching foam to his shoulders to help him stay afloat.
Last week, a North Korean soldier walked across the heavily-guarded border that separates the countries.
Soldiers had previously been defecting at the rate of about one a year.
The latest defector, thought to be in his early twenties, was spotted at Gimpo, just west of the southern capital Seoul, Yonhap news agency reported.
He screamed “Don’t kill me, I am here to defect”, at a South Korean marine who had seen him, Yonhap said.
The soldier will now be questioned by military officials.
North and South Korea are technically still at war, since the conflict between them ended in 1953 with a truce, not a formal peace treaty.
Seoul says more than 30,000 North Koreans have defected to the South since the end of the Korean War, the majority via China, which has the longest border with the North…

UPDATE 2 Portugal: forest fires kill at least 43 near Coimbra 59 people injured
A catastrophic forest fire in Portugal has claimed at least 43 lives, officials say.
Many died while trying to flee the Pedrógão Grande area, 50 km (30 miles) south-east of Coimbra, in their cars, according to the government.
Several firefighters are among the 59 people injured.
“Unfortunately this seems to be the greatest tragedy we have seen in recent years in terms of forest fires,” said Prime Minister Antonio Costa.
The death toll could rise further, he said.
Secretary of State for the Interior Jorge Gomes said that three people died from smoke inhalation and 18 people travelling in four cars died on the road linking Figueiró dos Vinhos to Castanheira de Pera.

TV IDOL Ant McPartlin last night checked into rehab after confessing to problems with substance abuse, prescription drugs and booze.
The Britain’s Got Talent presenter, 41, wept as he revealed his problems to wife Lisa and co-star Declan Donnelly.
Ant will spend at least two months in a clinic.
Yesterday he told The Sun on Sunday: “The first step is to admit to yourself you need help.”
Courageous Ant told how his depression led to an addiction to prescription drugs and battles with substance and alcohol abuse.
The much-loved star, one half of Britain’s top-paid telly duo, confessed: “I feel like I have let a lot of people down and for that I am truly sorry.
“I want to thank my wife, family and closest friends for helping me through this really difficult time.
“I’ve spoken out because I think it’s important that people ask for help if they’re going through a rough time and get the proper treatment to help their recovery.”

Familiar words attributed to Turkey’s founding father, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk — likening Australia’s dead “Johnnies” to Ottoman “Mehmets” and welcoming them to rest in his country’s soil — have been removed, according to The Guardian.
The renovation of the 1985 monument has heightened suspicions that the refurbished memorial could reflect a growing Islamist interpretation by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s administration of Australia’s part in the 1915 Anzac invasion of Gallipoli.

UPDATE Portugal: 25 people killed in forest fires northeast of Lisbon
A huge forest fire in central Portugal killed at least 25 people and injured 20 others, most of them burning to death in their cars, the government said on Sunday.
Several hundred firefighters and 160 vehicles were dispatched late on Saturday to tackle the blaze, which broke out in the afternoon in the municipality of Pedrogao Grande before spreading fast across several fronts.
“Unfortunately this seems to be the greatest tragedy we have seen in recent years in terms of forest fires,” the visibly moved prime minister Antonio Costa said.
“The number of fatalities could still rise,” he said at the Civil Protection headquarters near Lisbon. “The priority now is to save those people who could still be in danger.”
Portugal was sweltering under a severe heatwave on Saturday, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) in several regions.
Around 60 forest fires broke out across the country during the night, with 1,700 firefighters battling to put them out…
