Anzac Cove memorial honouring Australians to be removed for Islamist inscription

A RENOVATION of a revered Anzac Cove memorial honouring fallen Australian soldiers has sparked controversy after the Turkish Government suggested it may be replaced by an Islamic interpretation of the role Diggers played in the Gallipoli invasion.

Familiar words attributed to Turkey’s founding father, Mustafa Kemal AtatΓΌrk — likening Australia’s dead “Johnnies” to Ottoman “Mehmets” and welcoming them to rest in his country’s soil — have been removed, according to The Guardian.

The renovation of the 1985 monument has heightened suspicions that the refurbished memorial could reflect a growing Islamist interpretation by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s administration of Australia’s part in the 1915 Anzac invasion of Gallipoli.

Melb poaches 200 Chinese golf buggy jobs – smart wheel push golf buggies into electric ones

While manufacturing work moving overseas is par for the course, Victoria has smacked a hole-in-one by poaching 200 golf buggy jobs from China.

Concourse Golf is moving 198 jobs from China and its head office from Sydney to create its new Australian headquarters in the Melbourne suburb of Dandenong.

“This is a great coup for Melbourne which will generate just under 200 new full-time equivalent jobs,” state Industry Minister Wade Noonan told reporters on Tuesday.

The company makes smart wheels – self-contained units that convert manual push golf buggies into electric ones by changing the wheels.

The technology could change the way electric golf buggies operate and could potentially be applied to a range of other industries, including health and logistics.

Mr Noonan said the Victorian government chipped in to land Concourse’s move to Melbourne.

“We are in a competitive global market. These jobs could go anywhere,” he said.

Rabbi shows off Steve Bannon’s White House to-do list

A Rabbi has unwittingly shown the world Steve Bannon’s exhaustive to-do list after posing for a photo with Trump’s chief strategist during a visit to the White House.

Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, 50, visited the White House on Tuesday to celebrate Israel’s Independence Day.

The Orthodox Jewish author documented his visit by tweeting several photos of himself standing alongside the likes of Mike Pence, Ted Cruz and Bannon.

SCROLL DOWN TO SEE STEVE BANNON’S WHITE HOUSE TO-DO LIST

But it was his photos with Bannon – who he described as a ‘great, stalwart friend of the Jewish state’ – that has gained the most attention.

A long list of Trump’s campaign promises can be seen on the white board behind Bannon and Boteach – and ticks can be seen next to those the administration has already implemented or taken action on.

The list covers immigration policies extensively, including building the Mexican border wall, tripling the amount of ICE agents and suspending the Syrian refugee program.

‘Finally complete the biometric entry-exit visa tracker’ and ‘sunset visa so that Congress is forced to revisit and revise’ also appear on Bannon’s to-do list.

Repealing Obamacare and pledges on tax reform are among the first things on Bannon’s white board.

Boteach has occasionally written columns for Breitbart News in the past, which used to be run by Bannon before he took up a job with Trump’s administration.

Twitter users were quick to point out just what Boteach’s photos captured with one person tweeting: ‘The whiteboard is f@*ked up on so many levels.’

Another person wrote: ‘he used you to share his fake to-do list. congrats.’

STEVE BANNON’S WHITE HOUSE TO-DO LIST:

African and Pacific Islander youth ‘angriest’ in Victoria

African and Pacific Islander youths are part of the angriest group of criminals Victoria has ever seen, police have said.

Teenagers of African and Pacific Islander descent were on Wednesday identified among a violent group of the state’s 200 most ‘hardcore’ youths- who on average commit 47 crimes a year each, The Australian reported.

During an inquiry into youth justice centres Victoria Police Deputy Commissioner Stephen Leane said these groups felt ‘locked out’ of society.

They were committing violent crimes such as carjackings or aggravated robbery as a first offence, rather than progressing from a minor offence, Mr Leane said.

‘You have got young men who are angry and who have the capacity to actually play out their anger,’ Mr Leane said.

‘We are seeing a different cohort of new offender arrive on the scene in the Victorian community and that new cohort is different and distinct from the cohort we have had for the all of the time I have been in policing, and that is 35 years.’
