Eric Trump’s charity isn’t the first in the family to come under scrutiny

Questions have been raised about the president’s son’s foundation.

Eric Trump is not the first member of the first family to have his eponymous charitable foundation scrutinized.

The operations of President Donald Trump‘s own foundation were discussed during the 2016 campaign, and the extent — or lack thereof — of his contributions became a point of discussion for his opponents.

Now questions about how the Eric Trump Foundation operated and paid vendors — including properties owned by his own father — have been raised by a Forbes article published Tuesday.

How the Donald J. Trump Foundation got and gave money

Even though his name is the basis for the charity, Trump was never the biggest contributor, according to the organization’s 990 forms for 2001 through 2014.

Trump made contributions to the foundation from 2001 until 2008, but he is not listed as making any financial contributions since then.

His contributions range from $713,000 in 2004 to $30,000 in 2008; his total contributions to his foundation are in excess of $2.7 million.

A variety of charities are listed as having received contributions from the foundation during those years. The William J. Clinton Foundation (the earlier name of the Clinton Foundation), the conservative Citizens United Foundation, and a number of police benevolent societies, athletic leagues and cancer charities were among the various recipients of money…

Trump ignites chaos among Sunni nations, US coalition just bombed pro-Assad forces on the ground in Syria

us-coalition-isis.jpgDonald Trump’s first trip abroad as President of the United States last month took him to Saudi Arabia, where he gave a speech about the importance of global unity in combating terrorism, sold arms to regional powers, took part in a ceremonial sword dance, and along with a few other world leaders, grasped a glowing orb.

In his remarks in Riyadh the president made repeated attacks on Iran, which he  singled out as a state sponsor of terrorism. (In response to the Isis attacks in Tehran on Wednesday, the White House reiterated that “states that sponsor terrorism risk falling victim to the evil they promote,” ignoring the fact that the militants are Sunni rather than Shia extremists.)

Mr Trump’s open criticism of the Gulf states’ traditional enemy is widely viewed by many as part of the reason the Saudis were emboldened to make an example of tiny maverick neighbour Qatar this week, leading the charge as several Arab states cut off all ties with the kingdom.

Australia v Saudi Arabia: AUSTRALIA BEATS SAUDI ARABIA 3-2!

FULL-TIME! AUSTRALIA BEATS SAUDI ARABIA 3-2!

That was far from easy, far from convincing, and far from simple. But Australia has done enough to beat the Saudis by a single goal (with a big penalty shout ignored by the ref), thanks to Tomi Juric’s brace and a second-half stunner from Tom Rogic.
Serious defensive lapses in the first half suggests all is not rosy in the garden of this new formation we’re using. But there’s plenty of time to think about that ahead of August’s big trip to Japan (and the small matter of next week’s friendly against Brazil!)
Until then, this has been James Maasdorp, who believes it’s been an absolute pleasure bringing you this rather interesting bit of football your way. Have a great night, and stick with ABC News Online for all your footballing needs in future.

Phil Collins ‘rushed to hospital’ after fall

phil-collins.jpgPhil Collins has been rushed to hospital after a fall forcing the singer to postpone two of his London shows. The 66-year-old – who is “recovering well” – reportedly tripped over a step in his hotel bedroom following a performance at the Royal Albert Hall leaving him with a gash in his forehead. Ambulances transported Collins to a London hospital where it’s believed he underwent surgery.

An official statement was released via the ‘In the Air Tonight’ singer’s Facebook page informing fans tonight and tomorrow’s shows will be postponed.

It reads: “Phil suffers from ‘drop foot’ as a result of a back operation which makes it difficult to walk. He rose in the middle of the night to go to the toilet and slipped in his hotel room, hitting his head in the fall on a chair. He was taken to hospital where he had stitches for a severe gash on his head close to his eye and is recovering well.

Australia v Saudi Arabia: Socceroos in crucial World Cup qualifier; half-time 2-2

Who wrote this script? On the stroke of half-time, it’s 2-2!

The Socceroos take on Saudi Arabia in a crucial World Cup qualifier at the Adelaide Oval. Follow all the action in our live blog.

Half-time thoughts:

I reckon there will be a half-time bollocking from Ange. This team needs to get it together in a hurry. Aaron Mooy isn’t able to exert any real influence on affairs, and the Saudis are enjoying more shots on goal than the hosts.
Sort it out, ‘Straya.

There’s a real chance that Trump could be impeached after James Comey’s testimony

trump-comey.jpg

Donald Trump’s gaudy and scandal-ridden political career is now hanging on by a single orange thread – and today could be the day we finally see that thread slashed down the middle.

Enter James Comey, long-time federal prosecutor and freshly sacked FBI director with one heck of a chip on his shoulder.

Comey was tossed out in the cold last month as a direct result of his public investigation into whether Donald Trump’s campaign team colluded with Russian hackers to sabotage Hillary Clinton and steal the presidency. If even a shred of the allegations against Trump’s team are true, this steaming heap will effortlessly dwarf Richard Nixon’s infamous Watergate scandal to become the most disturbing ethical crisis America’s Executive Branch has ever faced.

Not even the “Teflon Don” will be able to survive all this, and to be honest, it’s not looking good. Every move the President has made since this Russia thing started brewing has made him look guiltier and guiltier…

London Bridge terrorists caught on camera before the attack, joking and hugging as they planned their massacre.

The images show Redouane, wearing an Adidas top, place his phone in the street before the trio walk down St Luke’s Avenue.

They are off camera for ten minutes, and it is thought that his phone was left in the street to ensure they were not monitored.

Redouane later returns to retrieve his phone and the group share a joke.

Police officers are now probing the footage.

One of the terrorists – Butt – helped as an assistant at the all-Muslim gym Ummah Fitness which is where they are seen meeting in the images.

The gym is run by Sajeel Shahid, 41, who was part of hate preacher Choudary’s network which allegedly helped set up weapons training in Pakistan for the 7/7 murderers.

Coles admits much of its workforce underpaid after SDA deals

Supermarket giant Coles has admitted for the first time that it has underpaid much of its workforce in a cosy deal it struck with the conservative shop assistants union

For two years, Coles has tried to deflect from the findings of a Fairfax Media investigation that revealed massive underpayment at the supermarket.

But in the Fair Work Commission on Thursday its lawyer, Stuart Wood, QC, indicated that much of the Coles workforce – up to 60 per cent – would be better off if they were paid minimum award rates rather than what they are paid from deals struck with the Shop, Distributive & Allied Employees Association (SDA).

The admission comes as Coles tries to fight off a huge back-pay claim for tens of thousands of its workers from Brisbane night-fill worker Penny Vickers.

Josh Cullinan, who helped expose the Coles scandal in 2015, said the admission by the supermarket was long overdue.

Prince Harry to continue tour of Sydney

Prince Harry will wrap up his visit to Sydney with a visit to some of the venues of the 2018 Invictus Games.

After spending much of Wednesday getting wet in thunderstorms as he kicked off the 500-day countdown to next year’s games in the harbour city, Harry will pay a visit to Sydney’s Olympic Park on Thursday.

He’s in town for just two days to promote the games he founded four years ago for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women.

The 32-year-old former British army captain met many of the Australian veterans hoping to secure a place in the team for this year’s games in Toronto during official functions on Wednesday.

He’s urged the Aussie vets to ‘put every single hour’ into training before the games come to Sydney in October next year…

The Mummy: Reviews for the Tom Cruise movie

THE Mummy was released in Aussie cinemas today but according to critics, this one would have been better off left buried.

Starring Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe and Sofia Boutella, the movie has been panned by film reviewers who have described it as a “monster fail” and “an unholy mess”.

The bad reviews will be especially alarming for Universal because The Mummy is the first film in their Dark Universe franchise.

Future movies in the franchise include Bride of Frankenstein (Angelina Jolie has been linked to the film), The Invisible Man (starring Johnny Depp) and Frankenstein (starring Javier Bardem).

But the Dark Universe is off to a rocky start and the critics have been ruthless.

Here’s what some of them have had to say about The Mummy:

• “Not only is The Mummy the worst movie that Tom Cruise has ever made, it’s also obviously the worst movie that Tom Cruise has ever made — it stands out like a flat note on a grand piano.

“It’s not that it’s bad, it’s that it never could have been good. It’s an irredeemable disaster from start to finish, an adventure that entertains only via glimpses of the adventure it should have been. It’s the kind of movie that Tom Cruise became a household name by avoiding at all costs.” — IndieWire

Preacher who ‘influenced’ London attacker Khuram Butt is ‘still loose’

When news of his potential connection to London emerged, Ahmad Musa Jibril disappeared from his Michigan neighbourhood.

Neighbours of the radical preacher who reportedly influenced one of the London terror attackers have told Sky News of their concern that he is “still loose”.

American born Ahmad Musa Jibril lives in Dearborn in Michigan.

When news of his potential connection to London emerged, he left the neighbourhood and has not been seen for days.

His material is a well-known inspiration to Islamic State fighters and extremists, including, reportedly, London terror attack ringleader Khuram Butt…
