Tiger Woods says he has completed treatment over issues with pain medication
Tiger Woods says he’s checked out of the clinic where he went to get help dealing with pain medications, adding he will ‘continue to tackle this going forward’
“I recently completed an out of state private intensive program,” Woods tweeted. “I will continue to tackle this going forward with my doctors, family and friends. I am so very thankful for all of the support I’ve received.”
The treatment follows the golfer’s arrest in May on a DUI charge after he was found asleep at the wheel in Jupiter, Florida, around 2am. Woods told police he was taking various prescriptions. No alcohol was found in his system.
Woods said in a statement last month that he was receiving professional help to manage his medications and how he deals with pain and a sleep disorder. His agent confirmed that the 14-time major champion, who had back surgery in April, was seeking in-patient treatment.

Boko Haram militants kidnap 37 women, kill nine people in Niger
Boko Haram militants have kidnapped 37 women and slit the throats of nine other people at a village in south-east Niger, according to the regional governor.
The attack happened on Sunday at the village of Ngalewa, near the border with Nigeria, the governor of Diffa region, Laouali Mahamane Dan Dano, told state TV.
“Boko Haram elements … slit the throats of nine people… they took women, 37 women, and departed with them,” he said.
“The defence and security forces are already in pursuit, and we hope that in the coming days these women will be found and freed,” he said.
The governor, who went to Ngalewa on Monday, said the village had been singled out because it was known for its resistance to the jihadists.
The assailants came by foot for greater stealth, he said.
The village’s mayor, Abari El Hadj Daouda, told AFP by phone that the attack happened on Sunday evening, “between 10 and 11pm.”

North Korea claims ICBM launch, bringing US and Darwin within range
North Korea has claimed its first successful launch of an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile, defying a tweet by Donald Trump in January that “it won’t happen”.
Experts estimated that if the missile had been launched at a “normal” angle, instead of the steep trajectory used in the test, it could have flown more than 6000 kilometres, a distance that would see it reach the US mainland.
This range also brings Darwin within reach.
The North Korean state news agency KCNA said on Tuesday afternoon that an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile was launched at 9am under the supervision of leader Kim Jong-un.

Fahour’s punch unacceptable: Vic premier. More footage has been released of Ali Fahour striking
Vic Premier Daniel Andrews says Ali Fahour punching another player in the head is ‘totally unacceptable’.
AFL employee Ali Fahour was caught on video punching another player during a suburban football game on Saturday.
‘That sort of the behaviour is totally unacceptable, in footy, everywhere really,’ Premier Daniel Andrews told reporters on Tuesday.
‘There’s no acceptable place, on the football field or off for that sort of conduct.

‘I think most fair minded Victorians know there’s no place in our game or in our community for that sort of behaviour.’
The AFL is facing calls for Fahour, brother of former Australia Post CEO Ahmed Fahour, to be sacked from his league position.
‘That’s a matter for the AFL. I know they take their position in our community very seriously,’ Mr Andrews said.
‘No doubt they’ll look at a whole range of different issues.’
Fahour faces a tribunal hearing on Wednesday night where a football suspension will be decided.

AFL: Tomas Bugg suspended for six matches for punch on Sydney’s Callum Mills
Melbourne’s Tomas Bugg has been suspended for six matches by the AFL tribunal for punching Sydney’s Callum Mills.
Bugg’s punch concussed Mills four minutes into the Swans’ win over the Demons on Friday night and caused an angry reaction among Sydney players and officials.
The MRP referred the incident directly to the tribunal.
Swans’ midfielder Luke Parker described the punch as a “dogs act”, while Bugg apologised in person and on live television after the game to Mills.
Mills is unlikely to play this week due to the ongoing effects of the concussion.

Civilians Emerge From Mosul’s Rubble Starving, Injured and Traumatized
A woman ran through an alley in Mosul’s Old City with two babies clutched to her chest and two small children following closely behind, grabbing for her skirt.
The family was among hundreds of civilians emerging from the rubble of the besieged neighborhood on Monday as Iraqi Special Forces went door-to-door clearing homes. The evacuations are part of a final bid to wrest the last pockets of the city still controlled by the Islamic State, also known as ISIS or ISIL, from the hands of extremists.
Many who remained in the militant-controlled areas of the city are injured and malnourished, according to aid groups.
Josh Warneke murder: police say mystery woman could hold ‘significant’ information
POLICE investigating the Josh Warneke murder mystery in Broome have confirmed that a mystery woman who called Crime Stoppers with information three weeks ago has made contact with them again.
Detectives appealed for the woman to get back in touch yesterday as the State Government announced that the reward for information that helps to finally solve the case had been increased to $250,000.
What the mystery woman had to say has not been revealed, but police yesterday said they believed she could make a “significant” contribution to the inquiry.
She was one of many people who contacted either Crime Stoppers or the Broome Police Station yesterday with information after the announcement of the reward was made.
Mr Warneke, 21, was found dead on a Broome roadside in the early hours of January 26, 2010.
It is understood he had suffered a serious injury to the back of his head which is believed to have been caused by a blow from a heavy object.
The case is now being re-investigated by officers from the cold case homicide squad after a man who was convicted of the crime was released earlier this year following an appeal.

Wyong shooting: Man, 24, arrested over death of father-of-two Jesse Thompson
THREE people, including a 17-year-old girl, have been today arrested in relation to the shooting death of father-of-two Jesse Thompson on the Central Coast yesterday.
About 10.50am, police arrested a 48-year-old man during a car stop at George Booth Drive, Sea Hampton.
He was taken to Toronto Police Station where he is assisting with inquiries.
His car was seized for forensic examination.
Tactical Operations Unit officers stopped a second vehicle in Forest Rd, Wyee, about 1.20pm and arrested a 24-year-old man. His car was also seized by police.
A 17-year-old girl was arrested a short time later in nearby Wyee St.
Police will allege Jesse Thompson and a friend were pursued following a possible road rage incident and cornered in Byron St, Wyong, just before 12.30pm yesterday.
It is alleged a gunman, in a white Mitsubishi Triton, approached the Toyota Kluger in which Mr Thompson was a passenger and shot him in the neck.
Flash burns on the 19-year-old’s skin suggested the shot was fired at close range, with the 28-year-old driver, who escaped with only injuries, hit in the hand.
“About 1.20pm, police arrested a man after a vehicle stop on Forest Rd in Wyee,” a NSW Police spokesman said today.
“He was taken to Wyong police station where he is assisting with inquiries.”
NSW Police sources confirmed the man in custody was wanted in relation to the murder of Mr Thompson.

Jamie Horowitz fired as head of Fox Sports amid reports of sexual harassment
Controversial TV executive embraced personality-driven sports programming.
Jamie Horowitz, the controversial television executive charged with leading Fox Sports into its high-profile ratings battle with ESPN, was dismissed from the network in surprising and abrupt fashion Monday, reportedly in the wake of a sexual harassment investigation.
Fox Sports President Eric Shanks announced Horowitz’s departure in an email to staff. He did not offer an explanation for the sudden move but alluded to the possibility that something was amiss.
“Everyone at FOX Sports, no matter what role we play, or what business, function or show we contribute to — should act with respect and adhere to professional conduct at all times,” Shanks told his staff. “These values are non-negotiable.”
Later Monday, the Los Angeles Times, citing an unnamed source, reported that 21st Century Fox launched an investigation last week into allegations of sexual harassment, and that several women at Fox Sports have been interviewed.
A spokesperson for the network confirmed Horowitz’s departure but said the network would not be making any further statements.
