Red Bull Hemut Marko: Team are already looking at “alternatives” to Daniel Ricciardo for 2019

The Australian’s contract expires at the end of next season and has hinted he is ready for a new challenge as he strives to become an F1 world champion.

And Marko has told German publication Auto Motor und Sport: “Ricciardo is already on the market. We have to look for alternatives. We will not be unprepared.”

Carlos Sainz would appear to be the most likely replacement were Ricciardo to leave, with the highly-rated Spaniard on loan at Renault for a year in 2018. (Full story – external link, in German)

Inside the rebel ship #Perth fans are queuing up to see

WHEN the Sea Shepherd ship Ocean Warrior docked in Fremantle’s Fishing Boat Harbour after three months of Operation Nemesis, trailing Japanese whaling vessels in the Southern Ocean, the crew were welcomed with open arms — and fresh fruit.

“I’ve never seen a group of people so excited,” Tamara Nzima, co-ordinator of the Perth chapter of Sea Shepherd, said.

The crew had long since run out of fresh food as they stalked the Japanese whaling vessels in the frosty waters of Antarctica, and of all the creature comforts on offer in WA, a meal not out of a tin was top of the list.

The Ocean Warrior docked in Fremantle in early March and seven crew have been living on the ship, waiting for instructions as to their next mission. In the meantime, their remit is hearts and minds.

Free tours every Sunday have seen about 9000 people visit the Sea Shepherd’s newest ship and drop more than $5000 into their fundraising collection tins.

The crew have been participating in local beach clean-ups and telling as many people as possible about the work they do across the world tackling illegal fishing and environmental degradation in our oceans.

Better Call Saul season 3 episode 10 ‘Lantern’ finale review: Is that it?

This episode was crunch time for me. I’ve been trying so hard to like Better Call Saul the past three seasons and, in the first half of this most recent one, the show finally seemed to be hitting its stride. This was followed by a little coasting in the later episodes, but the sub-plots conclusions were still hovering there in the background, charged for a thrilling climax – I was ready for Better Call Saul to come good.

Sadly, the climax never came, and it didn’t. Each of the stories were paid off in ‘Lantern’, but all in pretty much the least interesting way possible.

First up, let’s look at the drug cartel side of things. Mike, arguably the best thing about the show, was weirdly absent in the finale, as we saw Hector Salamanca demand fealty from Nacho’s resistant father. Sensing danger for his beloved papi, Nacho dispensed with his poisoned pill long game and set about straight-up shooting Hector from point blank range. He was interrupted by a meeting between Salamanca’s crew and Gus Fring however, which should have been a major showdown, a pay-off for the tension that has been building around the don’s aggression and unwillingness to compromise all season. It should have had unexpected twists and complex machinations. Instead, Hector simply refused to accept Don Eladio’s decision again and keeled over again. Carted away in an ambulance, Gus and Nacho were left standing there, and we weren’t even treated to a first proper conversation between the two unwitting allies, it simply cut away. A perfunctory and disappointing denouement to the season arc…

All Nippon Airways passengers exchange punches

A VIOLENT passenger has been pulled off a flight bound for the US, after a fight broke out before take off.

According to a passenger who filmed the violent encounter, two men started throwing fists on the All Nippon Airways flight from Narita, Japan on Monday night.

“So, 10 minutes before take off a passenger starts a huge fight in his row,” the passenger said on Twitter.

“For the record, ANA staff and passengers handled the situation with grace and respect.

“They did the best they could to diffuse the situation.”

In footage of the fight posted on social media, a baby can be heard crying while airline staff try to intervene.

“Somebody get this guy off the plane,” one of the men shouts.

As the second man, who witnesses say was drunk, is led from the scene, he returns for a second crack at the American passenger.

“Stop, stop,” the flight attendant can be heard saying.

The allegedly intoxicated man was removed from the flight which then departed almost two hours late.

Japan Today reports the 44-year-old American man was arrested after the incident and charged with assault.

Driver airlifted to hospital after Margaret River crash

Driver airlifted to hospital after Margaret River crash

THE main road through Margaret River was closed to traffic this evening following a serious crash in the town centre.

Bussell Highway was closed to allow the rescue helicopter to land before transporting the seriously injured male driver to Fiona Stanley Hospital.

The utility left the highway and slammed into a tree outside the Margaret River Visitor Centre about 5pm.

Traffic continued to be diverted around the crash site into the evening as the wreckage was removed.

The driver was tonight in a serious but stable condition.

No one else was injured in the crash.
