UK: Theresa May to seek to form UK government with DUP support

Theresa May will visit Buckingham Palace at 12:30 BST to seek permission to form a UK government, despite losing her Commons majority.

The prime minister is attempting to stay in office on the understanding that the Democratic Unionist Party will support her minority administration.

With one seat left to declare, the Tories are eight seats short of the 326 figure needed to command a majority.

Jeremy Corbyn has urged her to quit, saying Labour is “ready to serve”

Adam Barton makes lewd suggestion as he visits sperm bank  ‘I’ll give it a good pull!’

Things became a little risquΓ© on Emmerdale on Tuesday night as Adam Barton [played by Adam Thomas] make a faux pas while at the fertility clinic on Tuesday evening.

Attending the clinic with other half Victoria [Isabel Hodgins], Adam was required to provide a sperm sample so he could undergo tests.

But things got a little awkward for the farmer as he was sent in to see the nurse, who explained what he needed to do.

‘I think I know how to do it,’ he insisted before being directed to some magazines that were there to help the process.

Drinking wine engages more of your brain than solving maths problems, find scientists – Hic!

Dr Gordon Shepherd, from the Yale School of Medicine, said sniffing and analysing a wine before drinking it requires “exquisite control of one of the biggest muscles in the body”. When the drinker swirls the liquid around their mouth, the tongue’s intricate muscles are put to work along with thousands of taste and odour receptors. The overall process engages the brain more than listening to music or solving a difficult maths problem, he claims.

SPOILER! Big Little Lies what happened on night of murder in emotional season finale

Big Little Lies has been big on character development while skimping on hard details…until now.

The questions provoked by the premiere of the HBO show were for the most part unpacked on Sunday night’s season finale.

The pay off was an episode that answered hard questions while providing even tougher moral questions, due to all that gritty character groundwork laid in the previous outings of the critically acclaimed mini series.

First off we learn that the abuse suffered by Celeste (Nicole Kidman) has resulted in her children being violent.

Perry (Alexander Skarsgard) beats his wife, Celeste, and the boys are not immune to the chaotic and abusive environment.

Early on Jane (Shailene Woodley) was left defending her son Ziggy from accusations he had hurt Annabella, the daughter of Renata (Laura Dern)…

AFP ‘sold me out’: Aust terror suspect

A Sydney man facing a terrorism trial in Bulgaria says he’s outraged that Australian authorities have “sold him out”.

John Zakhariev is facing allegations he trained in the Balkan nation with the intention of fighting in Syria for Islamic State.

The 21-year-old’s lawyer has previously claimed it was Australian authorities which notified Bulgarian counterparts that Zakhariev had been in Syria in 2013 and was “interested in terrorism”.

In his first Australian TV interview since the arrest, Zakhariev said he was “absolutely outraged” by the Australian Federal Police and spy agencies.

“It seems to me that the AFP and ASIO only specialise in selling Australians citizens off to foreign nations,” he told the Seven Network.

Zakhariev flatly rejected he was a terrorist, saying prosecutors have failed to provide “a shred of evidence” in their case against him.

Johannesburg: Gang of armed thieves posing as police steal £12m

Robbers posing as police have stolen £12million of cash in an Ocean’s Eleven-style heist at a South African airport.

The money was taken when fake officers stopped security guards who were loading the money onto a flight bound for London on Tuesday night.

No shots were fired during the incident at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, and the thieves were said to have known exactly which boxes to target in a ‘slick’ operation.

A police source at the airport said the heist happened at 7pm when the robbers, masquerading as police, drove into a restricted zone and headed straight to cash-laden containers unloaded from a cargo plane.

‘They told the security that they were carrying out an investigation and the security guards opened the boom gate for them,’ said the source.

The company that operates the airport, South Africa’s largest, confirmed in a statement that an armed robbery had taken place.

Hangwani Mulaudzi, spokesman for the elite police unit the Hawks, also confirmed the ‘robbery’ but refused to divulge details ‘pending investigations.’
