Queensland University of Technology’s Cancer and Ageing Research Program discover anti-age drug

Ken O’Byrne says the discovery could be a game-changer.In a lab at Queensland University of Technology’s Cancer and Ageing Research Program there’s been a discovery that could change the way we live and when we die.

Researchers believe they’ve found the holy grail — the fountain of youth.

QUT Professor Dr Ken O’Byrne said he got “hairs on the back of my neck” when he saw the discovery.

“We may be able to take a 60-year-old’s cells and make them 40,” he said.

It’s an anti-ageing drug to stop the DNA wrecking ball which causes cancer, heart disease, cholesterol, arthritis and Alzheimer’s — which 50 per cent of people over the age of 80 have.

This drug could prevent them all, delay their onset or even reverse it.

Lewis Hamilton claims victory in the #F1 #SpanishGP🇪🇸

Lewis Hamilton, huffing and puffing into his cockpit radio, won an exciting Spanish Grand Prix after he and Sebastian Vettel went wheel-to-wheel.

The conflagration that we had hoped for since two of the finest drivers of their generation were instantly marked out as title favourites at the beginning of the season came to light here on a sunny Barcelona afternoon.

To begin at the start. Hamilton, on pole, was outpaced by Vettel, second on the grid. Vettel emerged through the first corner ahead of the Brit.

Vettel was strong up front, Hamilton keeping him honest but not an imminently large object in the Ferrari’s rear-view mirror.

Vettel was the first to stop, a slight problem with his front right tyre delaying him only fractionally. ‘This is the opportunity Lewis – give it everything you’ve got,’ came the instruction over the radio.

Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo managed third place behind Hamilton and VettelHamilton was into the pits when leading by 14 seconds. He came out, reshod, seven seconds back. There was one other factor at this point – the other Mercedes, that of Valtteri Bottas, in Vettel’s way.

But the German pulled a great move on the Finn. He dummied him, feinting to go left before going right and emerging ahead at the first corner via a plume of soil as his tyre clipped the grass.

This was the warm-up act for lap 44. At this point both men had been in for a second stop, Hamilton’s first as the virtual safety car was deployed as Stoffel Vandoorne’s McLaren was lifted away after he had turned in on Felipe Massa’s Williams.

Ferrari perhaps tarried a little long with that stop. The upshot was that Vettel emerged from the pits only a fraction ahead of Hamilton; in fact, side-by-side. Vettel held off Hamilton valiantly. ‘That was dangerous,’ said Hamilton of Vettel’s elbows-out style. The stewards saw no need to interfere, and rightly so.

But Hamilton on faster soft tyres had more speed and eventually charged through. ‘No chance, no chance,’ bemoaned Vettel. ‘Like a train.’

The victory was Hamilton’s ‘What can I say?’ said the winner. ‘Fantastic job all weekend.’

So Hamilton cut Vettel’s lead to six points. It was the Brit’s second win of the season in five races. Vettel was second and Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo third. Monaco next.

Fernando Alonso was 12th for McLaren. Bottas’s engine blew, a rare setback for Mercedes in that department. But they were still smiling in the garage, a day they and their driver were unbeatable.

Macron formally named next French president Elysee palace

Emmanuel Macron has arrived at the Elysee presidential palace in Paris to formally take power as the country’s 25th president.

The 39-year-old slowly marched alone, under a light rain, in the Elysee courtyard before shaking hands with his predecessor, Francois Hollande, at the front porch and the two men briefly posed for photographers.

His predecessor, Francois Hollande, greeted him in its opulent courtyard Sunday in front of hundreds of journalists.

The two met in the president’s office before Hollande’s departure, taking a last few minutes to discuss the most sensitive issues facing France – including the country’s nuclear codes.

Those in attendance at the Elysee palace today include Macron's glamorous wife Brigitte, 64, whom he has been married to for ten yearsFollowing the ceremony and military honours at the Elysee palace, Mr Macron will go the Tomb of the Unknown soldier, at the Arc de Triomphe at the top of the Champs-Elysees Avenue, a tradition followed by all heads of states in France’s modern history.

Macron takes charge of a nation that, when Britain leaves the European Union in 2019, will become the EU’s only member with nuclear weapons and a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.

Macron will then make a speech in the Elysee reception hall in front of about 300 guests, officials and family members, including his wife Brigitte Macron.

After a five-year term, Hollande makes way for Macron, his former adviser then economy minister, in a ceremony at the Elysee presidential palace.

The Socialist leader, who described himself as ‘normal,’ was able to comfort and unite his nation during its worst terrorist attacks in decades.

Following the January 2015 attacks at satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, Hollande proved to be a statesman who brought world leaders together to link arms and march through Paris to defy extremism.

The emotional image of him hugging German Chancellor Angela Merkel, eyes shut, close to his cheek, was published around the world.

In November 2015, Hollande faced the deadliest attacks inflicted on France since World War II when 130 people were slain in Paris at restaurants, at a concert venue and outside a stadium.

That night, Hollande vowed to attack the Islamic State group without mercy as the jihadist group claimed responsibility.

‘When terrorists can commit such atrocities, they must know that they will face a determined, united France,’ he declared

France remains under a state of emergency since then. Last year, another tragic attack killed 86 victims in Nice on July 14, France’s national Bastille Day holiday.

Over the years, Hollande turned from what some considered flimsy custard to become an active, strong chief of war.

In 2013, he launched a military operation in Mali against al-Qaeda-linked Islamist extremists who he believed posed a threat to the African Sahel region.

The same year, he also sent troops the Central African Republic in an intervention aimed at disarming ex-rebels and militias that were pushing the country toward anarchy.

Since September 2014, France’s jet fighters have been bombing IS targets in Iraq as part of the U.S.-led coalition – and extended that operation to Syria beginning in September 2015.

During Hollande’s term, France achieved a seemingly unachievable triumph: uniting the world to seal a global climate pact.

The Paris climate agreement, adopted on December 12, 2015, was the culmination of more than a year of intense diplomatic efforts by France…

PRINCESS Diana’s former lover James Hewitt suffers heart attack + stroke

PRINCESS Diana’s former lover James Hewitt was left fighting for life after suffering a heart attack and stroke that required emergency surgery.

It’s been revealed that doctors gave the 58-year-old only a small chance of recovery after the major health scare.

The Mirror newspaper said Hewitt fell ill two weeks ago. He had been waiting for treatment for a pre-existing illness, which hasn’t been disclosed, when things took a turn for the worse.

“He was all set for a procedure when he had a heart attack,” a relative said.

“He had a pre-existing illness, then got seriously ill. Suddenly it got very critical and he was rushed to hospital. The family were concerned.”

Further complications saw Hewitt rushed into surgery, the paper revealed, and he was kept in intensive care.

He is expected to remain in care at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital for some weeks. The relative said he was recovering well.

The former Army officer had a several-year affair with Princess Diana while she was still married to Prince Charles.

They met in London in 1986 when they were both in their mid-20s. The romance began a few years later but they parted ways when Hewitt was deployed to Iraq during the Gulf War in 1991.

Hewitt spoke out in March about persisting rumours that he is the biological father to Prince Harry, Diana and Charles’ younger son.

“No I’m not,” he told Channel Seven’s Sunday Night.

When asked if the three decades of speculation was difficult, Hewitt replied: “It’s worse for him, probably, poor chap.”

Trump brings Putin into Korea crisis after missile landed 60 miles of Vladivostok

Donald Trump made an unexpected reference to Russia after North Korea fired a ballistic missile into the Sea of Japan on Sunday.

‘The President has been briefed on the latest missile test by North Korea,’ a statement from the White House read.

‘With the missile impacting so close to Russian soil – in fact, closer to Russia than to Japan – the President cannot imagine that Russia is pleased.

‘North Korea has been a flagrant menace for far too long. South Korea and Japan have been watching this situation closely with us. The United States maintains our ironclad commitment to stand with our allies in the face of the serious threat posed by North Korea.

‘Let this latest provocation serve as a call for all nations to implement far stronger sanctions against North Korea,’ the statement concluded.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is currently in Beijing for a two-day ‘Belt and Road’ conference hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The missile took off from Kusong, which is northwest of Pyongyang, where North Korea previously test-launched an intermediate-range missile.

US Pacific Command says the flight was not consistent with an intercontinental ballistic missile.

The projectile was launched at around 5.30am on Sunday and flew about 435 miles, according to South Korea’s Joint Chief of Staff. Other reports claim the missile traveled 500 miles.

‘The South and US are analyzing more details about the missile,’ it said in a statement without elaborating. It is thought that the missile reached an altitude of 1,250 miles.

North Korea attempted but failed to test-launch ballistic missiles four consecutive times in the past two months. Nevertheless, the country has conducted a variety of missile testings since the beginning of last year at an unprecedented pace.

Weapons experts and government officials believe North Korea has accomplished some technical progress with those tests.

This launch is the first since liberal president Moon Jae-in took office in South Korea on Wednesday, saying dialogue and increased pressure must be used to ease tensions on the Korean peninsula and to stop North Korea’s weapons pursuit.

President Jae-In has summoned an emergency meeting with his national security advisors, his spokesman said.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe also slammed the missile launch as ‘totally unacceptable’ and a ‘grave threat’ to Tokyo.

‘We strongly protest against North Korea,’ he said.

Senior North Korean diplomat Choe Son Hui said that the country is willing to talk to the US and the Trump administration ‘under the right conditions.’

When asked if North Korea was also preparing to talk with the new government in South Korea, Hui said: ‘We’ll see.’

Hui did not elaborate on what the conditions in question might be, but her comments raise the possibility that North Korea and the US could return to negotiations for the first time since 2008, when six-nation talks over Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons program fell apart.

Codes to access United Airlines pilot cockpit have been ‘inadvertently made public’

The codes used to access United Airlines’ pilot compartments have been ‘inadvertently made public.’

While the airline has not said how many planes might have been involved, it sent a mass email on Saturday to employees, stating that other measures had been put in place to secure the airlines’ cockpits.

The company’s spokesperson Maddie King confirmed the accident – which has been reported to the Federal Aviation Administration –  but denounced any claims that it was a hack or a breach.

In a statement, the airlines said: ‘The safety of our customers and crew is our top priority and United Airlines utilizes a number of measures to keep our flight decks secure beyond door access information.

‘In the interim, this protocol ensures our cockpits remain secure. We are working to resolve this.’

The airlines’ website shows flights are running as normal, but it’s still not clear how the company intends to rectify the mistake.

DailyMail.com did not receive an immediate response regarding the measures the airline was putting in place to ensure security.

When the man was taken back to Cockburn Police Station he blew more than 0.08 and police issued him a notice of disqualification from driving.

The man left the station after he was released to walk to his home nearby.

Within the same hour police returned to patrolling the area and noticed the same vehicle driving south on the Midgegooroo Avenue.

Police pulled over the vehicle again and found the same man behind the wheel.

He was taken to Cockburn Police Station once more and tested positive for alcohol, showing only slightly less than he had the first time.

Authorities impounded his vehicle and another disqualification notice was issued.

A police spokesperson said the man would now appear in court as a result of the

Trump DENIES asking Comey for a loyalty pledge + refuses to answer  whether he records conversations

President Donald Trump has flat out denied asking former FBI director James Comey for a loyalty pledge and has refused to answer questions about whether he records conversations in the White House.

In an interview with Fox News Channel’s Jeanine Pirro on Saturday night, Trump said he never questioned Comey about his loyalty.

‘No I didn’t, but I don’t think it would be a bad question to ask,’ Trump said.  ‘I don’t know how that got there because I didn’t ask that question.’

Trump was referring to a New York Times article this week that alleged he had demanded loyalty from Comey during a private dinner at the White House in January.

Associates of the now-fired FBI director claimed Comey had told them he declined to pledge loyalty to Trump but said he would always be honest with the president.

My decision: Trump said of the firing of the FBI director: 'Oh, I was going to fire Comey regardless of recommendation.'Comey had allegedly said Trump asked twice during the private dinner. Sources close to Comey said he now believes this dinner conversation may have sealed his fate.

When Trump was questioned by Jeanine Pirro about whether he recorded these conversations with Comey, the President refused to comment.

‘That I can’t talk about,’ he said. ‘All I want is for Comey to be honest and I hope he will.’

It comes after Trump seemingly lobbed a veiled threat at Comey on Friday, hinting that some of their conversations before his firing may have been recorded.

‘James Comey better hope that there are no “tapes” of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!’ the president tweeted.

It’s unclear whether Trump was warning that the White House is recording his calls, or if he believes the FBI may have been recording Comey’s.

White House press secretary Sean Spicer told reporters Friday afternoon that the Oval Office would be silent on the matter: ‘The president has nothing further to add on that.’

Challenged about the tweet itself, Spicer said: ‘That’s not a threat. He’s simply stating a fact.’

Comey’s alleged version of events about the White House dinner is vastly different to the conversation Trump himself described in an interview with NBC’s Lester Holt on Thursday.

While it is not clear if they are talking about the same dinner, the pair are believed to have only dined together privately once.

Trump indicated that he had dinner with Comey at the former FBI director’s request – and said Comey was angling to keep his job.

‘I had a dinner with him. He wanted to have dinner because he wanted to stay on. We had a very nice dinner at the White House,’ Trump said.

‘He asked for the dinner?’ Holt followed up.

‘A dinner was arranged, I think he asked for the dinner,’ the president hedged. ‘And he wanted to stay on as the FBI head.

‘And I said I’ll consider and we’ll see what happens. But we had a very nice dinner. And at that time he told me ‘you are not under investigation’,’ Trump said.

Trump said he had asked Comey – once over dinner and twice by phone – if the FBI were investigating him as part of its probe into alleged collusion between members of his campaign and the Russian government prior to the election.

The President showed no concern that the request might be viewed as interference in the active FBI probe.

During that same interview, Trump declared he had planned to fire Comey all along, regardless of whether top Justice Department officials recommended the stunning step.

The hero who accidentally stopped the cyberattack from spreading for $10

An anonymous malware researcher inadvertently helped stop the spread of a global cyberattack that targeted nearly 100 countries.

The 22-year-old researcher, who goes by the name MalwareTech, has become an internet hero for their efforts to stem the spread of the WannaCry ransomware. MalwareTech, who is based in the U.K., did not disclose their identity or gender to CNN. MalwareTech published a blog post early Saturday morning detailing how they stopped the spread of this ransomware.

The ransomware took control of computers around the world and required owners to pay hundreds of dollars to get their files back. It took advantage of a Windows vulnerability leaked in April and the hacking tool is believed to belong to the NSA.

MalwareTech found an unregistered domain name in the ransomware and bought it for $10.69. Then, they pointed the domain to a sinkhole, or a server that collects and analyzes malware traffic. What they didn’t realize was that the domain — a random assortment of letters — was actually a kill switch, a way for someone to take control of the ransomware.

While the researcher is being lauded online for helping to prevent a more widespread outbreak, MalwareTech doesn’t consider themselves a hero.

“I just [think] don’t that what I did was that significant,” MalwareTech told CNN in an email. “And as of now I’ve had a fair bit of thanks from different people which is really appreciated, but no job offers which is nice as I’m happy where I am.”

Related: World reels from massive cyberattack that hit nearly 100 countries

“We found out that the domain was supposed to be unregistered and the malware was counting on this, thus by registering it we inadvertently stopped any subsequent infections,” they told CNN.

However, this only stops one version of WannaCry. There are different versions of the ransomware that do not contact that particular domain and can still spread, so it is possible for computers to get infected. Windows machines that are up-to-date are safe from this ransomware.

Darien Huss, a researcher at security firm Proofpoint, first noticed that MalwareTech’s sinkhole was preventing the ransomware from spreading.

“It seems a lot like the actors responsible for this are fairly amateur because of the implementation that they used for the kill switch,” Huss told CNN. “It was very easy for someone other than themselves to activate the kill switch.”

Huss says it is very likely we will see another attack using the exploit, even as early as Monday.

CNN’s Paul P. Murphy contributed to this report.

20 injured on Melbourne dance floor sprayed with toxic substance

A young woman was rushed to hospital and up to 20 others affected when a gas was sprayed over a pub dance floor.

The personal defence spray was deployed after two men approached a woman at the Perseverance hotel in Fitzroy, Melbourne, about 1am on Sunday and hassled her.

Senior Sergeant Steve Mills said the chain of events and what the spray contained was still unclear as neither the woman nor the two men had come forward.  I’m assuming the girl who did it felt genuinely scared. It’s important to note that those sorts of things are illegal, although I sympathise with her for using it,’ he told ABC.

The personal defence spray was deployed after two men approached a woman (not pictured) about 1am on Sunday and hassled herSergeant Mills added that the gas likely got into the pub’s air-conditioning an affected more patrons than the girl intended.

He said capsicum spray and similar were illegal in gas form and now usually sold as a foam to prevent incidents like this.

The incident happened at the same time as an alleged assault for which a 27-year-old man was arrested at the pub, but it’s not clear if they were connected.

Partygoers were seen being attended to by multiple ambulances on the street outside the pub in Melbourne’s trendy inner-northeast suburbs.

A young woman was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition after she had difficulty breathing.

Bin Laden son’s chilling video threat – extremists to launch lone-wolf attacks

Osama Bin Laden’s son encouraged Muslim extremists to launch lone-wolf attacks against the West in a chilling video released last night.

In the ten-minute footage, Hamza Bin Laden urges his followers to embark on suicide missions that cause most damage and go for ‘the jugular of the enemy’.

Bin Laden relays his message in Arabic with English subtitles, declaring: ‘This is advice for anyone who intends to carry out a martyrdom operation.’

As he speaks, the video shows pictures of terrorists who have launched successful attacks in the West.

Bin Laden, who is thought to be 28, goes on: ‘Be perfect in your choice of targets, so that you may damage your enemies more.

‘If you are able to pick a firearm, well and good; if not, the options are many.’

And he adds: ‘Take lead in inflicting losses, attacking the jugular of the enemy and hitting its joints.’

Hamza Bin Laden is believed to be positioning himself as the new leader of Al Qaeda, challenging Ayman al-Zawahiri, who took over the terror group following the killing of Osama Bin Laden by US Navy Seals at a compound in Pakistan in 2011.

Terrorism expert Professor Anthony Glees said: ‘The threat from this video is extremely serious.’
