Teenager critical after latest Indian Ocean Dr crash north of #Perth ANOTHER ONE

AN 18-year-old man is fighting for life after another horror head-on collision on Indian Ocean Drive on Saturday afternoon.

The man is currently on route to hospital while emergency services assess the injuries of a 49-year-old male and 48-year-old woman, who were the occupants of the other vehicle.

It is believed the woman has non-threatening injuries to both legs.

Police said one of the vehicles burst into flames following the crash, which was reported around 3.40pm.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Indian Ocean Drive and Clover Lane, just north of Yanchep.

Indian Ocean Drive is blocked off in both directions from Yanchep Beach Road in the south to Breakwater Drive in the north and police expect it will remain that way for some time.

The crash comes just 10 days after three people, including a mother and her six-year-old son, were killed on the same road near Ledge Point.

Central station shooting: NSW Police fire at man in standoff

A MAN has reportedly been shot by police following a standoff at Sydney’s Central Station.

A NSW Police spokeswoman told news.com.au she could not yet provide any details.

News.com.au has contacted NSW Ambulance for comment.

It is not known if the man is dead or alive or if anyone else was injured.

Nathan Yin was standing near Eddy Avenue entrance to Central Station waiting for a friend when he saw a man approach the florist and begin “breaking everything”.

‘A man came from nowhere. He tried to grab an old man, the florist owner, and he was pulling him and yelling at him. I said, ‘What the f*** do you want?’ and he said, ‘I just want to die’.

“I took off my bag and yelled at him, I tried to get him to stop.”

Mr Yin said he called police, who arrived within five minutes. That’s when he says the situation escalated.

“The man, I think he was holding scissors and trying to grab police and the police have shot him. Three or four gun shots.

“I was right there and I tried to escape the gunfire. I saw him go down. I think he got hit all over the body and he went down straight away.”

Another witness, Serena Whelan, said she heard three loud bangs from the park across the road around 6.20pm.

More to come.

#F1 Lewis Hamilton is ready to QUIT if Liberty Media continue with plans of a 25-race season

LEWIS Hamilton is ready to quit Formula One — if the sport’s new owners press ahead with plans for a 25-race season.

This year, 20 races will be held across the globe from March until November but Liberty Media are keen to add to the calendar, The Sun reports.

That would put a massive strain on teams, media and drivers — not something Hamilton is willing to accept.

After hearing McLaren’s two-time world champion, Fernando Alonso, threatened his resignation should there be more races, Hamilton was asked if he too would quit.

He said: “I understand everything Fernando is saying and I tend to agree with him.”

Alonso will return to race in this weekend’s Canadian GP after skipping Monaco to race in the Indy 500.

But said he would not wanted to race in F1 should there be more races — the previous highest number for a season being 21, which was last year.

He said: “I started when the calendar was 16 races, plus the tests, and now we keep increasing the races year after year…

Sean Spicer and Stephen Bannon’s poll numbers are even worse than Trump’s

Some really bad numbers.

President Trump’s approval numbers have sunk faster than those of any president in the modern era.

The good news for him is that someone else in politics today has it worse. The bad news is that they are his top spokesman, Sean Spicer, and his top strategist, Stephen K. Bannon.

A new Quinnipiac University poll shows that views of Spicer and Bannon continue to dim alongside Trump’s. Although the two aren’t nearly as well-known as the commander in chief, the people who do know them like them even less than America likes Trump.

Seven in 10 registered voters have heard enough of Spicer to form an opinion. And although 20 percent have a favorable opinion of him, 49 percent have an unfavorable one — nearly 2.5-to-1 negative.

Iraqi forces enter Mosul airport | Perth Now

Iraqi federal police have pushed their way into the perimeter of Mosul International Airport, taking control of the runway amid fierce exchanges of fire with Islamic State militants.

Thursday’s advance came as part of a major assault that started five days earlier to drive IS from the western half of Mosul, Iraq’s second-largest city.

Two police official told The Associated Press that after police forces pushed onto the airport grounds and seized the runway, they came under heavy fire from inside the buildings at the site, including the main airport building.

The officials would not provide more details but said heavy exchanges were underway. They said troops from the US-led coalition were with the advancing forces, though they didn’t specify the nationalities of the foreign forces.

Private broadcaster Lebanon-based Al-Mayadeen aired live footage from the Mosul airport perimeter, showing a military helicopter buzzing overheard and firing at IS positions as gunfire rattled.
