Silent Witness star Liz Carr stabbed in head with scissors: crossed the road London’s Euston Station

SILENT Witness TV star Liz Carr has been stabbed in the head by an attacker armed with a pair of scissors in each hand.

The man lunged at wheelchair user Liz, 45, in a London street as her carer tried to keep him at bay.

Liz, who plays scientist Clarissa Mullery, is recovering from a slash wound.

A man in his 20s was arrested.

A friend said: “It was a terrifying experience for Liz.

“She was being pushed in her wheelchair when this young man armed with two pairs of scissors suddenly headed towards her.

The actress said of her ordeal: ‘It was like being attacked by Edward Scissorhands’

Season 7, Episode 2, ‘Stormborn’

One thing we knew going into Season 7 of “Game of Thrones” was that as the expansive story began to contract toward its conclusion, characters who had been long separated or were strangers to one another would begin to come together.

On Sunday that was happening all over the place, as roughly 98 subplots unfolded over lots of conversation and a few flashes of action in a talky, busy episode. Characters we’ve known for years connected either for the first time on the show or in new ways, sharing moments that were by turns touching, revolting, conniving and deadly.

Euron Greyjoy met a couple of Sand Snakes, and it didn’t go well for the ladies. (R.I.P., I guess.) Melisandre talked prophesies with Daenerys Targaryen and Tyrion. Yara and Ellaria explored new layers to their relationship before getting interrupted by a sea battle. Samwell Tarly’s dad negotiated loyalties with Jaime. Samwell himself treated Jorah and [shudder].

Others felt each other out, like Daenerys Targaryen and Varys, who hashed out six seasons of tangled history in a few pages of dialogue. (And it mostly made sense!) Elsewhere in Dragonstone, Grey Worm and Missandei found a way to make it work…

Buck’s party death: Woman in shower was ‘member of defence force’

Woman found dead in a shower at a Melbourne buck’s party was reportedly a member of the Australian Defence Force.

Channel Nine said a source had confirmed the woman was from Victoria and was a member of the defence force.

The ADF said on Monday night they were unable to confirm the report.

Police refused to confirm the woman’s identity on Monday, despite ruling out foul play.

Four men attending the buck’s party will be allowed to return interstate after being released without charge on Sunday night.

The men, from ACT and NSW, were taken into custody after the dead woman was discovered at the Oaks on Market serviced apartments on Sunday morning.

They were reunited with their seven friends on Sunday night after spending the day assisting detectives with their investigation.

Cyber attack shuts down Aussie businesses

At least a dozen Australian businesses have been crippled by the malicious ransomware computer bug that has claimed more than 200,000 victims around the world.

The federal government has confirmed 12 reported cases in Australia of the ‘WannaCry’ software.

Four private businesses in Darwin and Alice Springs have suffered “significant impact”, Northern Territory Police said, with some still prevented from operating.

The government wouldn’t reveal details of the other affected businesses.

Some experts believe the ransomware – which blocks access to data until a ransom is paid – has links to North Korea.

“The ransomware incident highlights the need for all businesses to ensure that their systems are up-to-date with the most current patches and they have back-up procedures in place,” Detective Sergeant Craig Windebank said.

“If your computer system has the most recent patches installed, you are safe from this incident.”

But a majority of Australian companies admit they’re not sure how to protect unorganised data from being stolen, research shows.

The research shows about half of Australian organisations suffered two or more security breaches in the past 12 months, costing an average of $1.8 million.

Almost two-thirds expect to be breached again this year.

The study surveyed 600 companies globally – including 50 local businesses – with at least 1000 employees.

It found 66 per cent of Australian firms weren’t sure how to manage and protect unstructured data – unorganised, text-heavy material – from potential theft.

Employees who don’t stick to security policies are proving a headache, as well as risks posed by vendors and contractors.

Only 26 per cent of respondents said they have the ability to provide a report of “who has access to what” within 24 hours – lower than the 33 per cent global average.

The research was commissioned by identity management company SailPoint.

Adelaide mother named as victim in London terror attack

Adelaide mother Trish Neis-Beer was visiting her daughter while on holidays when she was run over by a terrorist in London as he mowed down dozens of people on Westminster Bridge.

Trish Neis-Beer, who was born in Germany but is an Australian resident and works in Adelaide, had her foot run over during the lone wolf rampage in central London.

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop confirmed Ms Neis-Beer was recovering in hospital and receiving consular assistance after Wednesday’s atrocity.
