Woman who underwent botched breast surgery at Sydney beauty salon dies
A woman who went into cardiac arrest while undergoing a botched breast surgery at a Sydney beauty salon dies.
Jean Huang, 35, who managed the salon, underwent the procedure at the Medi Beauty Clinic in Chippendale on Wednesday and died at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital this afternoon.
A Chinese tourist, 33-year-old Jie Shao, administered a local anaesthetic and breast filler to Ms Huang, despite having no medical qualifications in Australia.
Shao was charged with recklessly inflicting grievous bodily harm and using poison to endanger life.
Inquiries are continuing with a view to further legal action being considered, NSW Police said.
Shao’s bail application was refused yesterday by magistrate Sharon Freund, who said police had a strong case against her.
Police said that Shao had a plane ticket to leave Sydney for China.
“She has made a number of admissions in relation to local anaesthetics and breast fillers,” Ms Freund said.
The magistrate rejected assurances from the tourist’s legal aid solicitor that she had qualifications from the Canton (Guangdong) Medical University.
“These are very serious charges with a maximum of 10 years in jail,” she said.

Police and New South Wales Ambulance were called to the front of a property on Wilton Road in Wilton about 2pm, after a local resident raised the alarm.
Police said the two men — one aged in his 60s and the other in his 20s — were found dead at the scene.
It is understood they were completing a tandem jump, supervised by Sydney Skydivers, and their bodies were found in the driveway of the property.
It is believed the men’s bodies were found about one kilometre away from their intended landing spot.

Russian hackers broke into voting systems in almost every US state, report claims
A Russian cyber attack on the US electoral system affected almost 40 states during the 2016 election, sources have revealed.
The cyber attack – which targeted software used by poll workers on election day – hit 39 states, sources familiar with the US investigation into the matter told Bloomberg. That number, if accurate, represents a far larger attack than previously reported.
The Intercept recently published a top-secret National Security Agency document detailing an attempted launch of a Russian spear-phishing campaign on local governments in advance of the US election. The report suggested hackers had accessed at least one US voting software supplier.

Pauline Hanson’s anti-Islam post in wake of London attack slammed by Bill Shorten
Federal Opposition Leader Bill Shorten has lashed out at Pauline Hanson after the One Nation leader used the London attacks to renew her call to stop Muslims from immigrating to Australia.
Senator Hanson took to social media in the immediate aftermath of the attack to say “stop Islamic immigration before it is too late”.
It was accompanied by a graphic mimicking the “Run, Hide, Tell” emergency message released by British police earlier in the day.
UK police were telling people to run to a safe place and hide if they were caught up in a terror attack, before calling emergency services.
One Nation’s graphic recasts that slogan as a call for a sweeping immigration overhaul.

Covfefe: Trump may have just invented the word of 2017 (even if it was an accident)
If the President isn’t impressed about negative press covfefe coverage, he likely won’t be happy about the reaction to his midnight social media slip-up.
We may have just witnessed the birth of a word courtesy of an apparent typo in a tweet from Donald Trump.

Toto Wolff slammed his pitlane desk in rage as Hamilton relinquished the Australian Grand Prix lead
Wolff was captured by V cameras banging his first on a desk after Vettel emerged from a pitstop still in front of Hamilton as the Brit found himself stuck behind Max Verstappen.
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff slammed his pitlane desk in rage as Lewis Hamilton relinquished the Australian Grand Prix lead, and with it victory, to Sebastian Vettel.
Wolff was captured by TV cameras throwing a strop after Vettel, who started second on the grid, emerged from a lap-25 pitstop still in front of Hamilton as the Brit struggled to get past Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.
Hamilton had begun the race on pole but slipped down the rankings when he pitted on lap 17 and found himself stuck behind Verstappen, much to the frustration of both driver and team boss.
