Hawthorn AFL player Tyrone Vickery and his former Richmond teammate Jake King have been arrested over an investigation into extortion and threats.

Victoria Police said detectives arrested and questioned 27-year-old Vickery before he was released without charge, pending further investigation.

King, 33, was arrested and charged with extortion, with threats to kill, making threats to kill, two counts of threatening to inflict serious injury and two counts of using a carriage service to harass.

He was released on bail to reappear in court on November 15.

“Hawthorn Football Club is aware that Ty Vickery is assisting police in an investigation,” Hawthorn said in a statement.

“As the matter is under investigation the club will not be making further comment at this time.”

King, who is from Thornbury, was arrested at City of Ink — the tattoo parlour he co-owns with former bikie Toby Mitchell — in Clarendon St, South Melbourne at 12.45pm.

Police also raided properties in Wheelers Hill and Thornbury.
