The brother of Islamic State terrorist Mohamed Elomar will return to jail in New South Wales after his bail was revoked.
The State Parole Authority decided to revoke the parole of Ahmed Elomar after he was charged with stalking and intimidation.
Elomar was released on parole in August last year after serving almost three years for bashing a police officer in 2012.
Police allege he made threats towards a spectator at a children’s soccer match at Raby in Sydney’s south west in May.
A warrant was issued for his arrest after the authority made the ruling, and he handed himself in to authorities this afternoon.
Ahmed Elomar was segregated on five occasions while in prison:
- November 9 to 22, 2012: Found in possession of a mobile phone
- March 23 to April 10, 2013: Participated in inciting a disturbance
- August 8 to 21, 2013: Made serious threats to the life of an officer
- May 26 to to June 8, 2014: Fought with other inmates, chemicals were used by guards to gain control
- February 20 to March 15, 2015: Involved in an incident that seriously compromised security and intimidated a staff member
Elomar’s release last year exposed divisions between the State Parole Authority and the New South Wales Government, which was at odds about how radicalised prisoners were treated.
