#BREAKING: Hostage situation at Dutch radio station

Police have confirmed a hostage-taking situation in a building used by a Dutch radio station.

A hostage-taking incident is unfolding at the building used by Dutch radio station 3FM.

Dutch police have cordoned off the building in the city of Hilversum and have confirmed the hostage situation, public broadcaster NOS says.

The NOS says a man forced his way into the building after making threats to a couple outside.

Hawthorn recruit Tyrone Vickery and former player accused of threats, extortion

Hawthorn recruit Tyrone Vickery and a former AFL player are being investigated for alleged extortion and threats, with police swooping on an inner-city tattoo parlour on Wednesday afternoon.

He was assisting detectives from the Melbourne crime investigation unit, a police spokesman said. The investigation is ongoing.

Hawthorn confirmed Vickery’s involvement.

“Hawthorn Football Club is aware that Ty Vickery is assisting police in an investigation,” a spokeswoman said.

“As the matter is under investigation the club will not be making further comment at this time.”

Grenfell Tower: Adele hugs and comforts people at the scene of the London fire

Less than 24 hours after a blaze ripped through Kensington’s Grenfell Tower, a tearful Adele subtly showed up at the scene, “going around and hugging everyone she could to comfort them”. A Tottenham native and passionate Londoner, the 27-year-old was only photographed with her husband by a handful of Twitter users, apparently not wanting to draw attention to herself. @FourMee noted that she was wearing a simple black abaya, a simple, robe-like dress, worn by some women in parts of the Muslim world.

Bert Newton ‘rushed to hospital’ after ANOTHER health scare

Australian television legend Bert Newton was rushed to hospital on Wednesday after another reported health scare.

The 78-year-old former Good Morning Australia host reportedly spent seven hours in the emergency department at the Epworth Hospital in Melbourne.

According to Woman’s Day, Bert’s wife Patti left the hospital later that day, returning to the couple’s family home on her own.

‘Patti definitely looked stressed, like something was really up,’ a witness reportedly told the publication.

‘She was far from her usual calm self.’

In March this year Bert was hospitalised as he battled a bout of pneumonia.

Bert’s health has been a concern since 2012 when he underwent a quadruple heart bypass.

Trump’s Bali estate met with resistance by locals refusing to sell land

Plans for a massive Donald Trump real estate development in a spiritually sensitive part of Bali have met resistance from locals, some of whom are refusing to sell to the US President’s Indonesian business partner.

Hary Tanoesodibjo’s MNC group has been buying up land around the existing Nirwana resort at Tanah Lot, a relatively undeveloped area about an hour’s drive north of the main tourist strip at Kuta.

Demolition of the old resort is due to start in August, ahead of a three-year redevelopment that will be partly operated by the Trump group.
