SPOILER: Danny Dyer’s EastEnders character Mick Carter hits Woody
He took an extended break from Albert Square to care for his daughter after a car crash.
But Mick Carter (played by Danny Dyer) steamed back onto EastEnders tonight by getting into a fight with Woody Woodward (Lee Ryan) which saw him strike the show’s new bad boy in the face.
In Thursday night’s episode, Danny’s character was furious when he caught Woody in bed with his-daughter-in-law, Whitney, and their argument quickly came to blows.
After a scuffle, Woody could be seen cradling his nose.
Sensing trouble, Mick’s mother Shirley (Linda Henry) came to break up the argument, ordering Woody to leave before he ‘said too much’.
But the incident is just the first of Mick’s worries. As viewers already know, Shirley sold the freehold of the Queen Vic pub without his permission, in a last-ditch bid to raise money to save Lady Di.
Ouch! Danny’s character was furious when he caught Woody in bed with his-daughter-in-law Whitney, and their argument quickly came to blows. Woody later cradled his nose
She is currently keeping this secret from him, but the truth is set to emerge next week.
Danny Dyer, 39, took time off EastEnders due to exhaustion.
The actor has thrown himself back into a gruelling filming schedule after time away in South Africa as he took a break from the set.
Friendly face: Danny slipped back into his role as pub landlord Mick with ease. He is seen here filming scenes with his character’s mum Shirley (played by Linda Henry)
Speaking after Danny’s break, former EastEnders star Larry Lamb has said that the pressures of being on the show could cause many of the actors to turn to drink.
The soap legend, 69, admitted that actors on the BBC soap may be resorting to alcohol, as they work ‘under stress’.
The Gavin and Stacey actor explained to The Sun at the event: ‘There are a lot of businesses like EastEnders where people maybe get involved in drinking a bit more than they should.
The boy is back in town: Danny, 39, looked fresh faced as the first photographs of his comeback to the soap emerged on Tuesday
‘It happens with doctors and airline pilots — it happens with people working under a lot of stress.’
While he implied the pressured conditions on set caused the stars to blow off steam, he also claimed the glitzy, high-flying lifestyle that comes with being an actor can also contribute.
Danny first appeared as Mick – the landlord of the iconic pub in Walford – in December 2013, after which he became a show favourite.
What a comeback! The 39-year-old decided with producers on the soap that he would have a month off to focus on his wellbeing

American poet Amal Kassir describes losing 10 family members in Syria bombing
As the world focused on the devastating gas attack in the Syrian town of Khan Sheikhoun this week, air raids were killing civilians in another part of the war-torn country.
Key points:
- Amal Kassir says she lost 10 relatives in bombing near Damascus
- Aunt, cousins, baby and unborn child among family members killed
- UN calls for humanitarian ceasefire in besieged eastern Ghouta
A Syrian-American poet has detailed how her Colorado-based family were informed that 10 of their relatives, including her father’s sister, were killed in air raids on the Ghouta region in Damascus on Tuesday, the same day as the chemical attack.
Addressing an audience at The Kennedy Centre in Washington DC, Amal Kassir said her family sat and watched a mobile phone as the updates came in and their worst fears were confirmed.
“We lost 10 members of our family yesterday, 10 people, all in just one bombing,” she said at the meeting of spoken-word and hip-hop artists from Syria and Iran.
