#Perth weather: looming cold front to deliver Perth’s wettest June for five years

The rain will be back in force in Perth by early next week.Perth is set to record its wettest June for five years inside the first 19 days of the month – with another cold front poised to deliver a soaking to the city.

And the metropolitan gauge may also have received its average rainfall for June by Tuesday.

The latest in a series of cold fronts that have rolled across the coast is set to arrive from late Sunday night and deliver as much as 40mm of rain to Perth on Monday.

There could be up to another 23mm across Tuesday and Wednesday.

“Perth is probably going to start seeing the front from about midnight on Sunday,” Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster James Ashley said.

“When it hits there is going to be plenty of heavy rain and also likely some squally winds to go with it.

“The rain is going to be seen pretty much right across the west and South West of the state.”

The rainfall will spread far enough east to deliver up to 10mm to farming areas like Cunderdin and Merredin but there will probably only be weak rainfall (5 to 10mm) east of Albany towards Esperance.

But Perth needs only another 29mm to post its wettest winter since 2012, when 140mm fell in the metropolitan gauge.
