#F1 Sebastian Vettel signs new Ferrari deal for 3 years after Seb had talks with Mercedes
The four-time world champion, who was due to become a free agent at the end of the season, has agreed a new three-year deal with the team.
There are, however, likely to be performance-related clauses in the deal which would enable Vettel to leave the team before the contract’s full duration – just as he did three years ago when he left Red Bull to join Ferrari.
“To save Ferrari’s embarrassment in terms of Vettel not wanting to commit himself to the project, they will say it’s a multi-year deal but that doesn’t mean that we know absolutely everything within the contract and that Vettel will not be able to get out of that if and when he wants, because 2019 is the game,” commented Sky F1’s Ted Kravitz.
“2019 is when everything is going to be changing and that’s when all the big moves are going to be in the transfer market.”
Ferrari announced earlier this week that Kimi Raikkonen, Vettel’s current team-mate, had signed a one-year extension to stay for 2018.
Vettel has been linked with Mercedes throughout the year, although title Lewis Hamilton has expressed his doubts Vettel would be willing to accept equal status with him at the Silver Arrows.
“I think it’s highly unlikely that [Seb] will be here,” Hamilton said. “I don’t think he wants to be my team-mate.
“I know Seb doesn’t want to be my team-mate. He wouldn’t be in the position he is now in his team, in terms of how the team operates, if he was here.”

The All Blacks have retained the Bledisloe Cup for a record 15th straight year, but the Wallabies have restored faith in Australian rugby. “We are learning, we are growing and that was a great growth step,” the Wallabies captain, Michael Hooper, said.
The inclusion of Rob Simmons, Tevita Kuridrani and Dane Haylett-Petty shored up the Wallabies’ fragile defence, while inside-centre Kurtley Beale defended in the front-line, avoiding some of the confusion in Sydney.
A lighting problem at the indoor Forsyth Barr Stadium delayed the kick-off by 10 minutes. At first the Wallabies stayed on the field, while the All Blacks went straight back to their dressing-room.
In a spectacular start, Australia raced to a 17-0 lead in the first 14 minutes and led 17-14 at half-time after outscoring the All Blacks three tries to two.
Wallabies full-back Israel Folau scored the first try of the game after 26 seconds after intercepting a pass and racing 60 metres to score.
Hooper scored in the 10th minute after peeling off a maul from a 15 metre lineout, equaling Jeremy Paul and Rocky Elsom as the leading Wallabies try-scorers in the forwards.
New mudslide hits Swiss town, eight hikers missing
ZURICH (Reuters) – A fresh mudslide swept into a remote mountain town in eastern Switzerland on Friday where an earlier huge landslip this week dumped rock, rubble and mud meters high and left eight people missing.
In the latest slide, a river of mud poured through tiny Bondo in the eastern Grisons canton, near the Swiss-Italian border, television images showed.
Rescuers continued their search for eight hikers from Switzerland, Austria and Germany reported missing since the initial landslide above the town on Wednesday.
Police in Grisons said the new slide hit in late afternoon and that some residents who had been allowed to return home had to be evacuated again. Nobody was injured, police said, but the slide smashed equipment that was being used to clear debris from the previous slide.
Melting permafrost due to warming temperatures is likely to be one of the factors behind this week’s disaster, said Marcia Phillips, group leader for snow and permafrost at the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research (WSL).

Teenager critical after latest Indian Ocean Dr crash north of #Perth ANOTHER ONE
The man is currently on route to hospital while emergency services assess the injuries of a 49-year-old male and 48-year-old woman, who were the occupants of the other vehicle.
It is believed the woman has non-threatening injuries to both legs.
Police said one of the vehicles burst into flames following the crash, which was reported around 3.40pm.
The crash occurred near the intersection of Indian Ocean Drive and Clover Lane, just north of Yanchep.
Indian Ocean Drive is blocked off in both directions from Yanchep Beach Road in the south to Breakwater Drive in the north and police expect it will remain that way for some time.
The crash comes just 10 days after three people, including a mother and her six-year-old son, were killed on the same road near Ledge Point.
