BREAKING: White House lockdown over suspicious package

The White House was placed on lockdown Tuesday morning by the Secret Service who are investigating a suspicious package.

Reporters were locked into the White House press room and the North Lawn was cleared so Secret Service snipers could search the area.

The Secret Service confirmed just before 11am that they are investigating a suspicious package near the White House grounds and that road closures are in effect.

Viewers slam Married At First Sight’s Vanessa

On Tuesday’s episode of Married at First Sight Vanessa dumped husband Andy in what was a tearful and brutal split.

And it seemed viewers were on the side of 30-year-old Andy, with Twitter users calling 31-year-old Vanessa everything from a future cat lady to a ‘feminism fail’.

Twitter user‏ @Gillian_TVTweet wrote, ‘Andy please take Vanessa to Everest and push her off it, please’.

En route to a testing victory at the Miami Open the 21-year-old had an exchange with a ball boy that could easily have been taken the wrong way. However afterwards Kyrgios made sure to smooth things over.

Receiving new balls to serve with, one bounced off Kyrgios prompting him to ask the ball boy: ‘How am I supposed to catch that?’ Before adding: ‘It’s right at my feet.’

Tomb Raider: First official pictures show Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft

Tomb Raider fans have been given a first look at Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft ahead of the new film’s release. The images show the Ex Machina star as Croft in the iconic tank top and cargo trousers; noticeably less sexualised without the tiny shorts worn by Angelina Jolie in the previous films.

Croft’s backstory has been given an overhaul in the movie which is set for release next year. The action hero is a bike messenger searching for her missing father – beginning at the last place she knows he was – in a tomb off the coast of Japan.

Cyclone Debbie lashes Queensland coast – 50,000 homes without power

Tropical Cyclone Debbie is making landfall across the coast of northeast Australia, packing sustained winds of 185 kph (114 mph) with gusts reaching more than 262 kph (163 mph).

The worst of the damage so far appears to have been in the Whitsunday Islands, a popular destination for tourists hoping to catch a glimpse of the Great Barrier Reef.

“The ferocity of these wind speeds is actually taking roofs of houses, it’s sending fences up in the sky,” Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk told CNN.

Mayor Wilcox said Cyclone Debbie is the worst storm he’s ever seen in the 48 years he’s lived in the area.

Blade Runner 2049: New footage wows CinemaCon attendees

The focus of Sony Pictures’ CinemaCon panel was assumed to be its new sneak peek at Spider-Man: Homecoming, but a surprise was waiting in store.

Playlist reports that Sony Chairman Tom Rothman brought onto stage none other than Ryan Gosling, to debut brand new footage from this year’s highly-anticipated sci-fi sequel, Blade Runner 2049.

Surprising, especially, considering the film’s US and Canadian distributor is actually Warner Bros., with Sony Pictures acting as a distributor overseas. However, with Sony having financed half its production, it seems clear the studio is wanting to edge in on the ownership of what could, potentially, be one of the year’s major hits.
