Deadpool 2: Josh Brolin introduced as new villain Cable
Meet Cable, the “grumpy, heavily armed” new villain of Deadpool 2, played by Josh Brolin.
The first look at the Marvel comic book character was released by Brolin and producer/actor Ryan Reynolds on Monday.
“We all have that one, grumpy, heavily armed Uncle from the future,” Reynolds wrote.
“Deadpool 2: Your premium Cable provider.”
Brolin re-posted the photo, getting in character and writing: “Now offering 25 percent off your next autopsy. ☠️ #yourmine #deadpool.”

Overall, 38% say they approve of Trump’s handling of the presidency, according to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS, with 56% saying they disapprove. Just one other newly-elected president has held an approval rating below 50% at this point in his presidency since modern polling began: Bill Clinton, whose approval rating stood at 44% at this point in 1993.
Enthusiasm breaks against Trump by a 2-to-1 margin. Nearly half in the new poll say they strongly disapprove of Trump’s handling of the job (47%), while just a quarter say they feel strongly positive about Trump’s performance (24%).

Landslide kills 23 in village in China
The landslide hit Gengdi village in Sichuan province early on Tuesday.
Rescuers were able to pull one person out from the rubble, and four others had minor injuries.
The provincial government’s news office also says 71 houses were destroyed and a five-kilometre stretch of road was damaged.

Original Godzilla suit actor Haruo Nakajima dies
The man who first bought the beloved and feared monster Godzilla to life has died, the film company behind the monster says.
Haruo Nakajima, who wore the Godzilla suit in 12 movies, died on Monday from pneumonia at the age of 88, it said.
In an interview this year Nakajima explained how the original 1954 costume was created from ready-mixed concrete and weighed up to 100kg (220lbs).
He said he studied animals in the Tokyo zoo to prepare for the role.
Nakajima started off as a stunt actor in samurai and war films including “Seven Samurai” by Akira Kurosawa.
He first played Godzilla – a giant beast who emerges from the deep after a nuclear test – in the 1954 film entitled Godzilla directed by Ishiro Honda and produced by the famed Japanese film studio Toho.
He went on to play the character in consecutive sequels as well as playing other beasts Rodan, Mothra and King Kong.
His last outing in the suit was in the 1972 Godzilla vs. Gigan.

Australian cops smash international drug ring, seize 2 tons of narcotics
Working with their counterparts in Dubai and the Netherlands, Australian Federal Police (AFP) said they had smashed the drug ring with simultaneous arrests early Tuesday morning in Sydney and Dubai.
Ten suspects were taken into custody in Sydney, while police in the United Arab Emirates arrested five Australians, including two living in the city, the statement from the AFP said. Police in the Netherlands arrested two other people.
“A total of 1.8 tonnes (1.98 tons) of MDMA, 136 kilograms (300 lbs) of cocaine and 15 kilograms (33 lbs) of crystal methamphetamine was seized by authorities in the Netherlands before it could reach Australia,” the statement said.
The potential street value of the drugs, should they have made it to Australia, was up to 810 million Australian dollars (around $650 million).
The operation began around a year ago, targeting organized crime groups which dealt in tobacco and drug smuggling, and the AFP alleged that the gangs had attempted to smuggle the drugs into the country in a number of container shipments since November 2016.

GM is selling a $5,000 electric car in China
For that sort of price, the Baojun E100 is no Cadillac, of course. The two-seat car’s wheelbase — the distance from the center of the front wheels to the center of the rear wheels — is just 63 inches. That’s about 10 inches shorter than Daimler’s (DDAIF) Smart ForTwo, a car that is already remarkable for its stubby proportions.
The E100 is powered by a single 39-horsepower electric motor and has a top speed of 62 miles an hour. The E100 can drive about 96 miles on a fully charged battery, according to GM (GM).

QLD Mother of three arrested over child sexual abuse
It comes after her 32-year-old husband was arrested earlier this year in Charters Towers after he allegedly shared images of himself engaging in sexual acts with the children.
The three children were under five during the alleged offences and are no longer in their mother’s care.
Senior Sergeant Dave Miles from the Townsville Child Protection Unit said police believed a child was forced to watch a sexual act.
“The charge is in relation to the ongoing investigation, where we have imagery available to us which has identified a child being present while the parents engaged in sexual activity,” he said.
“We are still going through the material that has been made available to us through our investigation and through other policing agencies…. We will allege it demonstrates that the children were exposed to adult behaviours that is potentially damaging to their development.”
Sergeant Miles said police were now attempting to track down where the images were sent across the world.
The woman has been charged with one count of expose to a child under 12 to an indecent act.
Her husband has been charged with three counts of making child exploitation material, one count of distributing child exploitation material, five counts of indecent dealing with a child, three counts of indecent acts and two counts of rape.

Woolworths ‘outraged’ by double billing
Disgruntled shoppers raised the issue on Woolworths’ Facebook site with some claiming the double dipping also incurred them “overdraw fees”.
Woolworths on Tuesday confirmed that customers who paid with a VISA card between March 11 and 13 were charged a second time on August 6.
Mr Banducci said it was because of an error by CUSCAL, a company that processes payments for more than 80 financial institutions.
“We are outraged on behalf of our customers that this has happened and it raises a series of important questions about the effectiveness of certain processes in the financial system,” he said in a statement.
He said the charges appeared in customers’ bank statements on Monday as if they had been charged twice by Woolworths.
“Woolworths was not involved in this error, and was completely unaware of it until we were contacted by our customers,” he said.
“We don’t know which of our customers have been affected because the relevant encrypted data is held only by the financial services companies.”
He said the group is responding to customers who contact Woolworths’ customer service centres and through social media.
On Woolworths’ Facebook site, Charlie Hooper said: “I’ve got my refund but … it took me into overdrawn territory and I’m now down the associated fees”.
Another customer, JJ Hinfelaar, said: “Are Woolworths also going to refund any fees associated with this mistake? Your stuff up will cost many customers more than just the amount deducted”.
Woolworths responded to JJ saying CUSCAL is working on addressing any additional fees.
The retailer said CUSCAL had confirmed that affected customers would be refunded by 1400 AEST on Tuesday.
