Justin Bieber is banned from playing Beijing

Justin Bieber won’t be hitting the stage in Beijing anytime soon.

The Canadian pop singer has been banned from performing in the Chinese capital for “bad behavior,” according to a statement from the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture in response to fans asking about the cancellation.
“His series of misbehaviors while living abroad and during his performances in China has caused public resentment,” said the statement dated July 18. “To regulate the domestic entertainment market and purify its environment, we find it inappropriate to bring in performers with bad behaviors.”
The 23-year-old singer is currently on his third world tour, with Asian dates in Japan, India, Hong Kong, Philippines, Singapore and Indonesia.
Bieber’s official website does not show any scheduled tour dates in mainland China. But there appears to be some confusion about a possible stop in Shanghai.

Atlantic rescue after UK racing yachts are sunk and damaged by hurricane force winds

Clipper-Yachts.jpgA British yacht was sunk and others severely damaged after they encountered hurricane force winds on a transatlantic race to Rhode Island, USA.  A major rescue operation was launched in “extreme” weather by the Canadian Navy late on Friday night.

The boats, which sailed from Plymouth, were taking part in the club’s Original Singlehanded Transatlantic Race and the Twohanded Transatlantic Race. The 22 boats are crewed by solo or by two people.

But 1,700 miles east of Newfoundland they encountered 80mph winds and 15 metre high waves, CTV News reported.

The Furia was sunk and its crew were taken in by survey vessel Thor Magna, the club said.

Happy was dismasted and its crew were rescued by tug vessel Apl Forward, it added.

The Tamarind also suffered severe damage and its crew was rescued by cruise ship Queen Mary II.

Asked to describe Trump, most common replies are ‘idiot’ and ‘incompetent’

Oh, and “liar.”

Quinnipiac University’s most recent poll mirrors past surveys from the organization in the era of Donald Trump: The president is not very popular.

The pollsters found that only 36 percent of respondents view Trump’s job performance positively, just above the low in Quinnipiac’s polling. Those figures have been lower than the running average of approval polling — Trump’s at 42 percent approval on average — but the general trend has been in line with other pollsters, in that Trump is unusually unpopular.

In this most recent survey, though, Quinnipiac included a less-common question than approval: “What is the first word that comes to mind when you think of Donald Trump?” The results were not generally complimentary.

The most common responses, in order:
1. idiot, 39 times
2. incompetent, 31 times
3. liar, 30 times
4. leader, 25 times
5. unqualified, 25 times
6. president, 22 times
7. strong, 21 times
8. businessman, 18 times
9. ignorant, 16 times
10. egotistical, 15 times

It is good that we only did the top 10, because the 11th most-common word is not suitable for a family newspaper. It rhymes with “mass soul.” And actually, it’s only tied for 11th … with “stupid.”

That “incompetent” and “liar” rank so high shouldn’t come as a surprise. After all, the poll also found that 61 percent of respondents think that Trump is not honest and, again, 58 percent disapprove of the job that he’s doing.

He does slightly better when people are asked to evaluate whether he has good leadership skills. Fifty-six percent of respondents said he doesn’t, but 84 percent of Republicans said he does. They probably make up most of those 25 uses of “leader.” A majority of respondents — 62 percent — said that Trump is a strong person, which explains why “strong” ranks so high.

Special shout-out to the respondents who said the one word they would use to describe Trump was “president,” a response that ranked one step above “strong.” That sort of out-of-the-box thinking is laudable in today’s society.

I mean, at least it’s not a swear word

BREAKING: ‘Suspicious package’ sparking huge traffic queues at Heathrow Airport, LONDON

Airport staff suspended all departures from Terminal 3 (pictured) after reports of a 'suspicious package'BREAKING NEWS: ‘Suspicious package’ scare suspends Terminal 3 flights sparking huge traffic queues at Heathrow Airport

Emergency services were called to investigate as travellers waited for hours on the runway.

Tim Chambers, a passenger on a BA flight to Bilbao, said his plane was held on the tarmac for two hours due to a suspected ‘security lapse’.

He added that every plane due to depart was being searched by armed police.

Mr Chambers said the captain on his flight told passengers the delays were because a man had reportedly grabbed his bag and run through security after it had been pulled aside to be checked.

As a result, all flights from Terminal 3 were grounded.

While it was initially feared the passenger had run back on to the airside area of security from arrivals, it was later confirmed this was not the case.

Fellow passengers took videos and photos of police officers with sniffer dogs searching planes on the runway.

A Heathrow spokesman said: ‘Departures were suspended for a short time from Terminal 3 due to a security issue.

‘We are sorry to any passengers whose journeys are affected.

‘The safety and security of our passengers and colleagues is paramount.’

The scare came just hours after a man arriving in the UK on a flight from Turkey was arrested on suspicion of terror-related offences.

The 30-year-old was detained by the Metropolitan Police’s counter-terror squad as he stepped off the plane, from Istanbul to Heathrow, yesterday evening.

A police spokesman said the man had been arrested on suspicion of preparing for terrorist acts and terrorist training.

He remains in custody at a south London police station.

The Pope is still taking shots at Trump and it’s making people mad

index

Pope Francis isn’t letting up.

It’s been a busy few weeks since President Donald Trump was inaugurated but that hasn’t kept one of our favorite feuds, between Trump and Pope Francis, from rolling on.

Admittedly, it’s been a one-sided affair since the two first traded barbs last February over Trump’s plans to build a wall. “A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian,” the Pope said at the time. Trump called the pope “disgraceful” in response.

In recent times, the Pope has continued to deliver shade at Trump’s immigration policy in his tweets. Trump, so far, has not bitten back.
