Major rescue at The Gap after person falls off cliff into ocean in Albany

A MAN has died after falling from a cliff into the ocean at Albany tourist hotspot, The Gap.

Rescue crews received a call about the incident at about 2.45pm Thursday.

The latest incident follows the rescue of two men swept off the rocks at Salmon Holes last month.

A witness told the Albany Advertiser he fell into the water while with a group of four friends on the rocks.

The witness said the victim hit rocks as he fell into the water.

Great Southern police district superintendent Dom Wood said it was a tragic event.
